How Active Giving For Reality Rally Works

Active Giving Fundraising is a way to donate proceeds (credited towards a Survivor or any reality star participating and raising funds through their Page on the website) with the proceeds going towards mammograms for those in need through Michelle's Place Each mammogram costs $400 and the more funds raised through donating to the Active Giving fund the more this will benefit those in need.

The star or person who raises $1100 will be rewarded with a hot air balloon ride which is cool! Below are some links to Pages to donate towards a star who is participating. Reality Rally A Great Charity Event!

My friend Gillian Larson is hosting her second annual Reality Rally with the proceeds benefiting the cancer resource center Michelle's Place It was an amazing event last year with lots of support from local Temecula businesses as well as support worldwide. Below is a video from last year featuring Team Erin which included a real life cancer survivor named Erin and two of her friends with a wonderful Survivor cast member Holly Hoffman!

The idea for this awesome event came to Gillian while she was still filming Survivor Gabon season and it took a bit but it came to fruition and is growing yearly!

A Brief Q & A Session with Coach Wade!

Recently I conducted a brief Q & A session via email with 3 time Survivor cast member Benjamin "Coach" Wade. Below are the questions and his responses. Hope that you enjoy!

1 a. How would you score on a scale of 1-10 the social and politically based games of your competitors in the Final 4? What were the BEST and WORST attributes that they brought to the game this past season?

Sophie: 8. She was great in challenges but checked out of the game socially for more than a week. Ozzy called her a pretentious bitch, Jim said she was the worst social player ever in survivor, and yet she received both of their votes.

I really liked Sophie for most of the game and we bonded in many ways. I hope that winning doesn't go to her head but I think it has.

Ozzy : 7. Of course great in challenges and survival skills. But as a returning player his inability to work with me and lie each time we spoke is what hurt him. Before the merge don't forget that his tribe couldn't stand his arrogance. And he did get voted out three times.

The biggest difference between me and Ozzy is that Ozzy wanted the game to be about him whereas this time I wanted the game to be about others around me.

Albert: 9. Albert besides Cochran was one of my favorite people out there. To me he was genuine, he was great in team challenges, and I trusted him implicitly. But somewhere along the way he lost the trust of the jury, which hurt him in the end.

1.b How did your Five come about and did u regret having Brandon as part of the 5 and would have wished you could have replaced him with Edna instead?

No one except me trusted Edna for the first twenty days. I would have liked for her to be in the five.

The five just happened to be on the beach the first day and as we were talking I was like wow these are good people that I like talking to, we were bonding so I sprung it on them that we should all stick together. That is the most underrated move in the game this year I think. We formed a bond on day one a stuck it out thru thick and thin. Without that we would have disintegrated at the merge.

2. What role did returning play into your experience as a whole out of 3 seasons? Is there something you can take from the whole package into life and into your ministry?

I loved coming back. This was my year. Although I wish I would have won I totally feel blessed to go out there and lead from start to finish. To have people who wanted to play the game like me, and to pray everyday was very important. This experience was so good that I don't want to tarnish the memories by coming back a fourth time.

3. Of the entire cast who do you think got the most out of having played with you other than maybe Edna or Cochran?

Probably Brandon. When he stepped back and looked at it, I think he saw that I did care about him. And even before the finale we had a great talk of how to handle his uncle Russell when the question was popped during the live finale.

4. What part did your playing with Russell affect your thoughts about Brandon? What do you think now about Brandon having gone the complete cycle?

At first it didn't affect me at all because I saw that he was totally different. But the Hantz traits did come out when he was looking for the idol and he did start to bully people by running around camp asking what they were talking about. So that worried me. But I think that this was a breakout journey for him, to kind of make him realize that he is different from his family.

5. What was your Favorite challenges out there/least favorite challenges?

My favorite was probably the final challenge. It had every type of physical, balancing, mental challenges rolled into one.

6. What was the most amazing moment you had out there that will always be with you?

Bonding with Cochran and just about every conversation we had together.

7. What was the full story behind making the pact w-Ozzy? Did he approach you other than what was shown and why Ozzy? Was there something that initially stood out to you about Ozzy? What were your thoughts about each Savaii member.. was there any of them that stood out to you other than Cochran or Ozzy?

It was a very emotional journey to redemption with the family visits. Brandon was running around with his dad trying to pressure me,Albert had been squirrely, and here Ozzy was really humbly and truly trying to get into the game. My heart went out to him and again I said Ozzy lets play this game together. Just don't lie to me. And yet as soon as he got back in the game he lied to me. It was very frustrating because if he had just been straight up with me he would have gone to the finals.

Savaii was nothing to me. They didn't vote for me. Half the tribe lied about being previously married (Whitney) or what they did for a living (Keith and Jim). But I gotta say I really like Jim. He is smart, loves the game, and really was a joy to watch this season.

8. What role does religion and spirituality play in the game or the show itself?

For me I pray every day. This time we all prayed together it was the glue that kept us together.

9. Along those lines what did you think of the edits that were shown about religion and the reactions the public had to those?

Good and bad. People took what they wanted to from it. Some were inspired, some thought that we were hypocritical. The day of the merge I got a lot of flack from that but it was a trick of the editing. I prayed for victory in the challenge, Brandon prayed for the idol, Sophie is criticizing my prayer. But I never prayed for the idol.

10. What day or days (other than Day 39) when you look back on makes you smile? Was there ever a day(s) during the game itself that felt so completely idyllic to you and gave u an amazing memory to look back and reflect on?

Every day was amazing. I was never a target, no one ever thought of voting me out so I was safe the entire time. A beautiful experience.

11. If there was anyone alumni wise from past Survivors that you have never played with directly that you would have loved to have played with..who are the cast-alumni and why?

I always say Tom Westman. I would also have liked to have played with JT. I really like him

12. If your experience could be set to music..what would you call it? Or if there is already existing a musical composition which song or music piece is it?

Beethoven's 5th symphony. It has it all. Its majestic, powerful, heroic, dramatic.

"Any fighter will tell you they go into the final round hoping to win and expecting to win. I thought it was going to be close – maybe five to four. It was tough but you look at the questions. If you had sequestered them and they weren’t allowed to talk, you get a different outcome. You look at Dawn’s question, she didn’t ask Albert and me a question, obviously how are we going to get her vote? I thought it was going to be closer but I had a feeling in my gut that Sophie won. I was disappointed but at the same time I was happy Sophie won."

I have enjoyed blogging this season and hope each of you visiting have enjoyed the journey as well. To wrap it up I would like to take a look at the Final 4 and what strengths and weaknesses they had during this season. With that in mind let's start off with Ozzy.

The main strength besides the star power factor that Ozzy brought this season was his strength in challenges. That's not really anything different from any past seasons he has been on so imo I don't see much growth game wise from him. Watching him at RI I kind of thought he should have setup an office with a plaque that said Ozzy CEO but all kidding aside (and that was a bland attempt at a joke) Ozzy's main star this season was Redemption Island. His journey there warmed fans hearts and u got to give him credit..winning each challenge is nothing to sneeze at. Shows him to be the competitor he is far as challenges go.

Weakness: Social! I still say Ozzy has no real idea of this part of the game. Ozzy possesses arrogance and while to some it maybe charming..to others it's a turnoff. Ozzy inserted foot in mouth at TC and turned his shot upside down by alienating all 3 Upolu from him. His best chance would have been humility as he was not in a good spot but I honestly don't see Ozzy as going that route. Ozzy instead thought he was untouchable when it comes to winning challenges so he could win his way into the end. Instead by not applying the social factor he sealed his fate.

Risk Factor had he have made FTC: With a heavy Savaii jury he would have won. You add the star factor along with the loyalty from past Savaii (other than maybe Cochran) and possibly add Brandon and Rick you have a majority vote. If he would have gone..I have no doubt he would have won. The truth is Ozzy would have won due to a bitter jury and not because of a worthy all around game. Throw star factor in also as a possibility and it's a foregone conclusion.

Ozzy however won Player Of The Season. Congrats go out to him on the win!

Albert Destrade made the Final 3 and seemed like a smart and promising player throughout the first half of the season. His strengths were at times physical in the first half of the season plus he did show smarts when it came to the game and had a good diplomatic social game for the most part. But as the days wore down it seemed like weaknesses emerged more and more. Those I would briefly touch on.

Weaknesses: Strategically: The weakness here is Albert became way too aggressive and paranoid and his instincts on the game were off more than on strategically. Timing was off and decisions were more based on either paranoia or in some cases attempts to pander. He's smart but his timing was never really on.

Pandering. He way over campaigned for the votes which is why he got zero votes as he was so transparent. He voted with Brandon knowing Brandon was going so he could have Brandon in his pocket. He made it appear he would go with Dawn-Whitney so he could be assured their votes. In my opinion he would root on each competitor at RI so it would appear he was supporting them to return. All of these moves were so political and very transparent. In the end Jim's and Brandon's "questions" at FTC brought it all out the extent his pandering would go and in the end there was no way he was going to get any votes from the jury. He placed 3rd by being too aggressive with this.

Congrats do go to Albert for making Final 3 and placing 3rd!!

Coach Wade! First as a big supporter of Coach Wade's I am very proud of him for how well he did this season. Making F3 as a returnee especially after a shaky start and having overcome the obstacles is a big deal! He earned his spot and was not "carried there" (sorry Sophie) in my opinion he should have won but was jacked out by a bitter jury. This reminds me so much of Samoa and Russell's loss to Natalie. The best player lost due to sour grapes. Never thought I'd ever make that type of connection between Russell and Coach but it's true. In the end Coach had a fantastic season!

Strengths:

1. Social: The heart and soul of the game. Coach shone!! He had relationships with each person in his alliance and tribe. The best imo were with Edna, Brandon and Cochran. The ones with Cochran made great inspirational TV. The ones with Brandon showed a lot of compassion towards him and with Edna it was endearing to me as he tried to empower her and bring out her strengths. These 3 are examples of that actually. He led his Upolu Tribe and led with as much motivation as he could. His loyalty to his F3 partners cost him the game. However for all the goat talk there was no way Coach would go against his core loyalty and take anyone else as he gave his absolute word to them. That quality is admirable and is imo a strength more than a weakness. He received zero votes cast against him and never had to play his idol. The only votes were 3 cast for him to win and from three who appreciated what he brought to the table.

2. Strategically: Strength wise Coach had great instincts on the best moves to make and at the right time. He knew when to strike and when not to. The making of the five alliance at the get go. The move with Cochran. The Pagong of the Savaii tribe. These are some of the stronger moments he had within his game. He played to win and this shows in spades. The reason he did not keep Rick was the fact that for him to win he would need the strongest people that were available to keep Ozzy from winning that final immunity. If he would have kept Rick ..and Ozzy would have won the Final Immunity..going up against Ozzy he would have lost. So in short Coach pulled out all stops he could to win the game.

Weaknesses:
1. Making promises to too many people. He should never had made that gesture towards Ozzy. Not only was it not smart as Ozzy could have won but it was dynamite for Ozzy to use against him which he did. In TC and to embitter the jury. Ozzy went back on the pact I agree by revealing it and Coach was within his right not to keep his part but it was a big mistake on Coach's part to offer it to begin with and in the end that one move cost him the game.

All in all Coach Wade was spectacular and should be proud of the way he played and how well he placed! Sadly due to a bitter jury the win was not given to him after playing so well but this was his season and in this season he won redemption in spades!

KUDOS for Runner Up!!!

Winner Of Survivor South Pacific!

First off my CONGRATS go to Sophie Clarke for her win!! I liked Sophie a lot throughout the season and loved how insightful her confessionals were. Sophie was a very intuitive, smart, strong girl and in a way she was my she-ro this season because of it. But for all her strengths she did have a couple weaknesses. I will explore both sides.

Strengths: She was very intuitive and she definitely could radar on anyone, size them up; flesh them out and use the info to her advantage. She had very honed instincts and the confessionals showed that.

Physical: She won 3 immunities with one being highly important.

Strategically: She played a smart game and knew what was going on at any point and knew how to use it to her advantage. Again her confessionals show that. She played so under the radar that people did not notice her until post merge. Strategically that is a good way to play as you don't make people angry. She had a tight pact with Coach the entire game and was key in helping him make the decisions and offering her insights. She's a smart girl and a fighter and fought a tough Final Tribal Council. She undoubtably knew the jury was bitter and used that to gain advantage for the win.

Weaknesses: Her social game. As Ozzy pointed out she came across as petulant and obnoxious to people. The way she talked to Albert during the one immunity challenge shows that side of her. Sophie owned up to that in a Tribal and also broke down during this same Tribal..showing yet another weakness as well.

In the end she took those weaknesses and made them work for her at Final Tribal and won! Congrats to Sophie on a job well done girl!!!

Before I sign off this blog for the season..I would like to take the time to say thank you to the man himself Coach Wade for being an amazing friend and supporter throughout 3 years nearly. I can never say enough how amazing a person you are!!

Benjamin Coach Wade 3.0 Player Of The Season

If ever there was a polarizing presence in the history of Survivor it is undeniably Benjamin Coach Wade. Coach came into this season with a history of being termed a crank pot and delusional as a result of his first season. However by the end of this, his third season it is obvious that Coach Wade has brought his best game ever to Survivor.

Coach has had quite the ride this season and is easily the one single force and presence throughout the game that we saw play out. As we sit now he stands on the thresh-hold of making the Final 3. Something that he had to rise above and work to achieve after a shaky start.

From the get go, within minutes after arriving on the island; Coach was called out as a "temporary player" by Christine Shields Markoski. He also did not get the most cordial reception from the Upolu Tribe as well.

Rick Nelson admitted that prior to coming out he felt Coach maybe one of the returnees. He admitted he did not like Coach; however within a very short time Rick gained respect for Coach and ended up in an alliance with Coach. Which shows that Coach was able to win over even a detractor within his own tribe.

On Savaii Ozzy's tribe crumbled whereas on Upolu Coach's tribe did not. Coach was able to gain the ultimate control of his tribe from the onset. He unified them and as a result Upolu was able to make it 5 strong to the Final 5 after having achieved a successful Pagong of the Savaii Tribe. Something that doesn't happen often.

But to achieve this several factors would have to be in place.

Finding The Right Balance

To be successful Coach could not come into the game as his approach had been previously. He had to in essence find a balance that would work.

Fact 1: He approached the game methodically first achieving trust and respect from Upolu. Gained absolute control without lording this same control over the tribe. Upolu as a tribe worked as a unit instead of it becoming a one person hierarchy as we saw last season with Rob. Instead of a tribe full of goats, Coach had a couple players who challenged him. Yet he still retained control. Everything balanced out as he found the right mixture of strategical-social-mentorship to see his way successfully through and keep his tribe completely loyal to him directly.

Fact 2: Established a five strong alliance that he was loyal to even despite obstacles from within this alliance. He was able to take this very alliance to the Final 5. Not an easy feat. Especially given the fact that there were divisions within the alliance itself that we saw play out on this past episode. Those divisions did not rise up overnight and it's obvious that Coach found a way to hold them all together intact. That's again not an easy feat and should be applauded and respected.

Fact 3: Solid Social Game~ Coach has balanced an alliance with each person in his tribe from the onset. Building a direct alliance with Sophie and sub alliances with each member in pairs. Something that's hard to maintain for an entire game but Coach has been able to balance each. That's a great strategical move to accomplish and Coach was able to accomplish it so far this entire game.

Fact 4: Coach has played the most sound strategical game of anyone this season. The ones that come the closest to him in strategy..instinct wise; have either been too transparent and edgy (Albert) or left early (Jim) The only one I feel is closest to him in strategy is his main ally Sophie who I feel has advised Coach.

In the end it comes down to instincts of knowing what to do at any given point and Coach has known how to do that. Bringing Cochran to the fold after calling out his and Ozzy plans is one example among several. Coach has played a bold but smart game.

Fact 5: Coach has possessed a hidden immunity idol since middle game and at no point has he been in a position to where he would have to use it. He has been a viable threat the entire season yet his social game has been so well established that no one will consider placing a vote against him.

This season Coach has been able to find the right balance and with each move he has made has assured him a lock on the Finals. Whether he will be successful still remains to be seen. But he has by all intents and purposes played a brilliant game.

How Successful Overall Will He Be At The End? Some Speculation

Overall Coach Wade has played a solid social, strategical and very competitive game.
But the question is how will the jury interpret his game should he make the Finals?

The only drawback to the success of his end game will be how the predominantly Savaii jury interprets his game. Will they react from a non-biased view as they were exempt from playing directly with Coach and had no direct emotions involved other than anger at Cochran?

Or do they nurse anger due to the aftermath of the Pagong and struggle to interpret the reactions upon exit of each Upolu the past two Tribals?

His success will mainly focus on whom he takes to the End. If it's Rick-Albert he may stand a good chance. As Rick is almost a non-factor in the game and Albert reminds me a lot of Sash who pretty much played everyone and curried jury votes. In the end..that bit Sash in the butt.

If it's Sophie-Ozzy then he will have a tougher route as I think that Savaii might go with Ozzy, even tho they don't really care for him. He was predominant in their original tribe and Savaii strikes me as a tribe who would vote along tribal lines.

If it's Sophie-Albert he may still have a shot as again Albert has been outed as a hard core player and he also did not offer Brandon the immunity back even tho Brandon was clearly in trouble. My guess is Albert knew it and voted with Brandon just in case he made jury. Sophie has shown herself to be rather smart and well spoken and has won 2 immunities so far. But the question again is how well did she make her presence known to Savaii and her relationships with any exiting Upolu?

Coach may end up with votes with this faction but it maybe close between him and Sophie.

In the end if it's a strong finish that takes a lot of balls to do. To play a well established game and take strength. That shows a lot of confidence and it also will force a jury to determine of the strong..who is the best. Most don't have balls to do that but I think Coach might just do it. We'll see if he does. Were he to do so; to me, again kudos should be given for having the strength to attempt it. Again not many would attempt it.

Personal Growth and Maturity

The best way to approach this part is to listen to the man himself. One of the best confessionals ever from Coach. It shows the focus and maturity that he brought to the game this season. The video speaks for itself. Coach has truly grown as an individual and in the game of Survivor.

I am supporting Coach Wade For Player Of The Season for all of the reasons above listed. The term is Fan Favorite but we fans as the "ultimate jury" should take in account who has played the most solid and best all season. To also not allow prior prejudices and biases affect your decision. It's been Coach's season and he has played it from the get go. The best social, strategical and competitive game of all players that played this season.

Jeff Probst is now a happily married man!

This past Monday in a very quiet no frills ceremony Survivor host and executive producer Jeff Probst, 50; married sweetheart Lisa Ann Russell, 40; this is a second marriage for both.

The new Mrs. Probst was once married to Zach from the show "Saved By The Bell" and shares custody of two kids with him. Which in effect makes Jeff a step-dad now as well.

My congrats go to the happy couple and may their flame not be extinguished. (lol couldn't resist)

Hello again Survivor fans and welcome again to yet another week of my ramblings, thoughts and narratives of Survivor South Pacific. This past episode was so jam packed with things to capture that I found myself not putting off getting to my computer to pursue my thoughts on everything. With this being said here we go...!!

Redemption Island A Duel; Ozzy Plays Host

The Duel in my opinion was the best duel of the season! At least the editor's did a bang up job of building the suspense throughout it. Though from a student perspective it was a predictable Ozzy win..from a fan-viewer perspective I found myself sitting on my couch rooting on Cochran and hoping the Coch-train would continue on down the tracks to see an entrance back in. The kid fought hard you gotta give him that and I am truly proud of Cochran in that regards,

Again Ozzy had zero to no support from the on-lookers at RI as Albert gave Cochran tips on how to wrangle a bag. Pretty much each Upolu member (and even Jeff may I add) was urging him on to get in it to win it. In a way I can see why though. There's just something about Cochran that makes you want to root him on. It's the human aspect we all have in wanting to root on the under-dog. Plus there really is no love lost for Ozzy as he is such a strong challenger. If it were me I would rather face Cochran in a duel than Ozzy. Let's face it Ozzy is a challenge horse! So there are really two aspects for rooting Cochran on to win it.

In a well fought out and might I add; pretty close, nail biter duel Ozzy ended up once more taking it home.

Cochran's exit speech was pretty cool. I found myself applauding along with his fellow cast and even tearing up a bit. It was a remarkable moment. But with it we see Cochran become 5th member of the jury.

Prior to the duel on the Island itself there was an interesting exchange between Ozzy-Cochran where they were discussing end game. Ozzy asked Cochran point blank would he vote for Coach and then went on to do an obvious (to me) psych out of Cochran by saying "I know how we can keep them from winning..if I am there vote for me!!" Psychologically Ozzy is saying " you're not going to win" and he approached it with his usual cockiness as well. Cochran handled things well I think. Heck he almost beat Ozzy!!

There was a new way to approach the Family Visit this episode. This go round the winner of RI (Ozzy) got to select who got to visit. His decisions to select Albert with mom Annie, Coach with brother Peter and Brandon with dad Sean shows a lot of insight into a more strategical bent than anything and it's an obvious no brainer.

He selected men who a: he respects his challenge prowess b; leadership authority c: a weaker player who may have a melt down if not selected so I am thinking he is buying a favor. With Albert and Coach I see it more out of respect than anything and his way to open a door upon re-entry.

However while on the Island itself and possibly (in my mind) a not so smart move on Coach's part was made. Tactically..Strategically..I am not too big on his making a "Christian pact" to F3 with Ozzy. If I am not mistaken did this conversation not already take place and both felt each other out and decided not to go about it? True it was an Alpha Male sort of hookup convo and both really weren't that serious at the time. So I am assuming the change is due to Coach having more power now. But honestly it's not a good idea to flirt with this option.

Were this to take place: Strategically and Tactically Coach is going up against a majority jury of Savaii with a former force within Savaii to some extent. The jury already is bitter and whether they like Ozzy or not is beside the point. The vote might go to Ozzy because of the fact that he had been a force within their ranks. I find the move to be highly risky with Ozzy as opposed to that of Cochran. If Coach wants to seal up a win his best option is not to explore this route.

Plus on the visit we saw something else that I wasn't too crazy about. Sean Hantz (dad of Brandon) actually approached Coach and asked Coach to make sure Brandon made the Final 3. I do realize Sean is concerned about Brandon as anyone can see Brandon is not going about the game well at all.

I realize also that he is his dad and wants to see him be successful at the game. But I honestly don't feel it's a non-player's right to openly dictate a game they are not directly involved with.

That would be like myself walking out there and saying "Coach you need to vote off Brandon rather than Edna and while we are it take Rick and Edna to the Finals" etc. It's not my place to do that as I am not directly involved in the game. No matter how well meaning my intentions are. Just my dime..

Speaking of....

Edna The First Sacrifice

From a game standpoint I can understand the choice of Edna. The clue can be found in what Jeff said about early decisions. The early decision on Final pecking order was made early in the game when Upolu created the 5 to the end alliance. Brandon (sigh) was part of that faction.

What's pretty sad is Edna was actually Coach's first friend in the game however their actual union pact came after the 5 were created. Edna made some really convincing arguments to be kept and should be applauded for that. As a fan I was NOT happy to see her go. In fact I find myself disagreeing with her being chose. But as a strategist I can respect that you make an alliance and you keep it intact and you see it through. Plus strategically it might not be a bad idea to take Brandon to the Finals were it to occur.

The argument on WHY they should have kept her that Edna made was a solid argument. She was not a threat at challenges. She promised that whoever makes Final 4 WILL make Final 4. Importantly she as a jury member would not leave with a bitter taste in her mouth. She was selected to go over someone who has lied to his tribe previously. Who has had a few melt downs in the game and at Tribal. Someone who actually "bullied" Edna at the Immunity challenge itself. All good statements.

My philosophy is that the decision was made more out of Sophie and Albert both whispering for it. They are both close to Coach so I think it was a trio decision. Sophie has stated in a previous episode that she is not that crazy about Edna and in this episode she theorized that she was looking at people who may turn the jury off at a Final Tribal. In doing so she feels that Brandon is a logical choice.

Edna or even Rick on the other hand would not pose that same type of ability. Albert has never really cared for Edna. For a while I think he was worried about her closeness to Coach and most likely still was. In fact he tried getting her taken out previously on Upolu. Plus I don't think he fully trusted her either.

I do feel though that this had to have been a tough decision on Coach's part. In the end I think he went with his alliance on it. True..he could have given his immunity to Edna but like Coach said it would have been risky if his alliance isn't going fully along with it.

Perhaps he also realized that keeping Brandon around was the more sound choice. I may not be crazy about the choice but in the end I respect it. Like Jeff said: "The moves you make early (but in this case late) will dictate the success of your game"

I like Edna and will be rooting her on next week. From the preview it looks like Ozzy will have his hands full with her as an opponent. We also see a glimpse of what Albert meant by questioning Edna's loyalty as we do see a scorned Edna giving dynamics to Ozzy as well. Obviously Edna feels she was tossed casually away and psychologically she is striking back. Whether this info helps Ozzy we shall see.

I did enjoy briefly seeing Peter Wade as a family member visiting. I do know Peter and he is a wonderful man as well. I do wish we could have had more meatier emotional family scenes and less game motivated ones as those are why I truly love these episodes. However the few moments of emotion were awesome and it was pretty cool.

In the end I would like to say a hearty CONGRATULATIONS to Coach on his immunity win!!! That's TWO immunities he possesses. The way he went about the challenge shows how he is methodically playing so kudos for him!!!

Hello again Survivor fans and welcome again to another review of this season's Survivor South Pacific. I am going to change up and do something different this week and instead of a recap of my thoughts I am going to do a summary of what I am seeing to date from some of the season's key players.

I have given it the acronym of C.O.A.C.H and with each area I will touch on the key points of each. With that being said let's jump right in.

Without a doubt this has become the season for Coach Ben Wade. In this his 3rd season on the show Coach has approached the season with an intensity and directness that we have not seen in previous seasons from him.

Strategical wise and Social wise Coach Ben Wade has played a thorough game winning over his tribe and keeping control throughout the process from start to post merge. It is Coach's game now to call as he sees fit and to have the final say in the end game part.

With the recent full Pagong of what is now the entire tribe of Savaii (with the recent ouster of John Cochran) it is safe to say that it will be someone from Coach Wade's tribe of Upolu who will be sitting at the end. (unless there is a miracle win from a former Savaii member that takes him to the Final 3 be it Cochran or Ozzy which I seriously doubt)

There are some high aces and low cards to having that type of control though. Whereas he has built such solid relationships with his alliance/sub alliances that there was never a consideration of taking him out or flushing the idol he still possesses; this type of control can be both a curse and a blessing.

On the high end he possesses the ability to dictate the ebbs and flows of the game into whatever direction that he would like to take it. With the way he setup his alliance/sub alliances he was the foundation or pinnacle to each one. With each one he was the key force in each decision made.

Throughout the season he was able to make decisions for each that could balance and keep each in harmony with the other which is not an easy task.

His decision to not divulge pecking order helped keep the balance. Now with the end game approaching it was Coach who had the ultimate decision at the past Tribal with selecting who will possibly end up with him in the Finals. Which now reveals the actual pecking order.

There were many possible routes Coach could have gone with to have made the end. Several separate factions of "goat" (Brandon-Edna; Rick/Edna; Rick-Brandon; Brandon-Cochran; Edna-Cochran perhaps even Albert-Cochran) and the Iron Sharpens Iron faction with Sophie and Albert.

It now appears Coach has decided on the aforementioned Iron Sharpens Iron faction. Which I will cover with "H". Having the ability to do this is obviously a plus within the game however too there could be a drawback from his decision made at the recent Tribal Council.

With the controversial flip of John Cochran from low totem pole (possibly) Savaii to a possible F4 combination with Albert as a sub alliance; Coach gained the momentum at merge but in doing so has angered or embittered an entire tribe of Savaii who have the final say as jurors. It is still debatable whether this may impact the final decision but it well could. With the ouster of Cochran; the buffer of anger more in the direction of Cochran at the end is no longer something that could be an asset for Coach. Which makes his end game and jury tougher. In reality even though a tribe may be angry at their defector in an end game F3; at the least they hold respect towards the opposing tribe who goes to the end with the person for their being there as in effect the player still "represents" the original tribe at the end.

When the person is shown to have been just a number or appendage however that taste can become bitter. Which is what Coach now faces I feel in his decision to oust Cochran. As a viewer-fan I applaud his ability to perform a virtual Pagong of an entire tribe which is an amazing feat, however as a tactician I do recognize the down side as well. Absolute power in the game can be a blessing but within this ability there is also the psychological impact on the sitting jury as well to be factored in and overcome. I will be watching how Coach handles this and hopefully this will work in his favor.

Should Coach Wade be able to win this season; in my opinion, this will rank him above the likes of Russell Hantz and Boston Rob Mariano. Both having absolute power facing bitter juries. However both selected the easier routes of lesser liked or "C" players as their routes at the end. Coach in my opinion chose a far different course which could make the end stronger but challenging jury wise at the end. I applaud that as it's risky and bold. But overall I applaud his ultimate loyalty to his original tribe and his core alliance as well. Which in a cut throat game like Survivor is not often seen.

Should it work for him it will usurp the games of these strong tacticians and place Coach Wade in a level above both. All in all Coach has had an amazing season and has completely taught us as fans and tacticians how the game of Survivor can be played on a more exciting level.

This season also saw the return of another former player Ozzy. Unlike Coach Wade; Ozzy was in trouble early and was unable to correct the route once it started. Game wise the two are bi=polar opposites. While Coach's game has shone brilliantly all season, Ozzy's on the other hand hasn't.

He has struggled in each important area of strategy and social. Whereas Coach had direction; Ozzy lacked direction and several decisions came back to haunt him as he sits now on Redemption Island. He paired up in an obvious strength pair with a female (a known m.o) and the female was ousted which led to a social faux pas of a melt down on his part. He played in such a way that the pecking order was painfully revealed and everyone knew where their rung was. Which led to separate and disparate factions within one tribe which made the tribe very incohesive and led to the eventual Pagong. Ozzy's only approach throughout his seasons has been to play the strong guy-provider role and in his first season this worked well for him because he was able to make it to the end by winning challenges and being a provider. However as a early leader of the Hispanic Tribe Aitutaki in Cook Islands.. it too showed early signs of what we have seen this season with Savaii on South Pacific.

In his second season he also had the same approach as this season which also detonated in his falling prey to the Black Widow alliance leaving with an idol in his pocket becoming juror number 2.

So in essence has Ozzy found redemption this season? By looking at his history and this season's decisions my feeling is he hasn't. The truth is Ozzy has no clear concept of the actual game itself and relies on his m.o. of provider-challenge prowess which can only take you so far.

The game itself continues to grow and develop per season and if you cannot grow and expand with it then it cannot be a success for you.

His choice of Redemption Island and his own vote off was a selfish decision and only beneficial to Ozzy. It was at the root showing his inability to thrive within the boundaries of the actual game itself. Ozzy maybe able to make his way back in through this process but by being on RI whatever info he receives will not benefit him as by the time he does return Coach Wade's main alliance I doubt will switch things up. Plus he would have to win each Immunity to stay in to make the Finals. Should that happen that would make for an interesting conclusion. We'll see what happens but unlike Coach; I don't see Ozzy as having found redemption. He has not played well and has given us the same patterns used in his similar seasons.

Another key player we have seen this season is Albert. Upolu's strength factor in challenges and diplomatic player. That is a positive for Albert in that he has approached the game in a diplomatic way and has been someone that people can approach. He possesses an agile mind for strategy and has been an asset for Coach Wade throughout the season. I see him though being more key aligned with Sophie and that he looks to her for a lot of key decisions he attempts to make. I like Albert and see him as someone who has played a good game. The only drawback I can see in his game is the timing in his decisions.

He has made several attempts to take the game over. The first being the attempt to oust Edna during the tribal stage (most likely another reason was Edna was a threat to him personally as to her closeness with Coach and Albert wanted to remove this threat)

I feel aligning with Cochran was the genesis of a seed to take over as well. However in the end Cochran did not sit well with Sophie which is part and partial of why Cochran went. Plus I sense Coach knew it also and wanted to defuse anything that could happen now that the numbers are getting lower. So either way Albert could not emerge victorious on this attempt either way.

In the end the game is and has been determined by Coach Wade. The alliance that Albert-Sophie made with Coach for F3 with the idol during the Upolu stage has guaranteed both Final 3 status as long as the alliance stays on the same page.

In Cochran's exit it now seals the Final Pecking order of the Iron Sharpens Iron alliance.

Which is why I think that Albert cannot fully pull the plug. He knows he has a decent shot with going with Sophie and Coach to the Finals. Coach because he has played twice before and the argument can be made for that. Sophie because she has played a more under the radar low key game. Not doing a lot of testing of the waters. Which is why Albert has ultimately stayed with this alliance. There are good arguments he can make within his case to the jury.

The other drawback to Albert is he has made obvious wooing gestures towards what will be jurors. He wooed Dawn-Whitney with a possible change-up but stopped shy of it. Planting the seed that he at least was approachable. However he did not change the game up so the attempt in hindsight can be viewed as a ploy by the jury. His giving his Reward away tho commendable is also a blatant ploy as well which Cochran did see through.

Albert has played a steady game within the confines of Upolu and for the most part it will guarantee him a slot in the Finals with Coach and Sophie unless something drastically changes.

One of the more loveable klutzy characters we have seen this season has been John Cochran. The ultimate Survivor super fan getting the shot to finally live his dream of playing the game. However from throughout the game Cochran has not been able to show us anything that would classify him as a game tactician. His name has been written down during the majority of the Tribals he participated in. From Savaii to post merge Te Tuna.

At Savaii he was on the clear outs from the onset as he did not fit in with the majority of the tribe. His being kept was more of a strategical decision on part by Jim than anything. Cochran at merge decided to take his game into his own hands (more accurately into the hands of Coach-Albert-Sophie)and flipped to Upolu believing he had a new home there and a sub alliance with Albert. That he would be able to rise up through the ranks.

But in reality the move was only more in favor to Upolu than to Cochran, who was wooed for a time and allowed the first bites at retribution towards Savaii. But Cochran's main focus and desire was to keep looking for big splashy moves to make but in reality Cochran was more a slave to insecurities than a clear sound level player. I feel that is why Coach took him under his wing and was doing the Tai Chi with Cochran. I think Coach saw the roots of a smart player who was held back by fears and insecurities.

I think Coach did try to help Cochran but was unable to fully do so. In the end I think Cochran wore on Sophie's nerves and Coach did not want any possible switch up and this is why he ended up going.

Cochran has not been as effective as we all kind of hoped he would and it is disappointing. In a way I would love to see Cochran beat Ozzy at the duel next episode as it would be so good for him morale wise. Maybe to channel some of the Tai Chi he has been doing with Coach. But I fear he will fall prey to the insecurities that has held him back in the game and Ozzy will again be the victor. But were he to pull it off it would be awesome!

Now what exactly is H?

H stands for the slogan Coach Wade set out for in Survivor Tocantins and I feel will come to fruition this season.

Honor and integrity at the end.

I feel this will be the culmination of an exciting and close to call season. With the information shown last Tribal Council we see the pecking order goes like this:

7th Cochran
6th Edna
5th Brandon
4th Rick

With a Final 3 of Coach Wade, Albert Destrade and Sophie Clarke.

To me it is so apparent that this is the end now more so than ever mainly again the hints lie with Sophie. At the beginning of the episode she is shown saying that she is not happy about the fact that Cochran just assumes people will take him to the Finals and openly spoke of being annoyed by Cochran and looked annoyed even.

She also during the time Cochran was making his plea to the tribe body language wise was turned away from Cochran and appeared distant. Showing she was not a full participant.

Sophie in her quiet manner has been the person Albert and Coach have looked to throughout the game for decisions. She has been the glue to them both and far as Coach making his decision I refer back to something he said a long time ago during a Tribal Council in Tocantins. He stated he trusted female intuitions. Which is a portion of why I feel Cochran went was due to Sophie. But with his exit we now clearly see the true pecking order and who Coach is more aligned with.

All 3 have played awesome and would make a strong finish for this season.

Now to make an final note I am saddened to see that one of my favorites..Dawn Meehan lost on Redemption Island. Dawn and Jim were my favorite two Savaii players. Dawn played a very competitive game with heart and I will miss her. Her final words in the game at RI were some of the best ever said on exit. I love Dawn and hope she will have future success in all her endeavors in life. You did great Dawn!!!

We also say goodbye to Whitney as well. Who is also now a part of the jury.

With this being said I will close out my thoughts for now but will be back soon with more reflections. I continue to enjoy this season and am looking forward to a strong solid finish. Survivor 101 Rule 37

Welcome to yet another journey this week in Survivor South Pacific. This episode gave us an even bigger glimpse into the dynamics of the folks left on the island still and we saw the jury gain it's first two members in Jim and Keith. Plus the ouster of Dawn and Whitney making it a full fledge Pagonging of an entire tribe to Redemption Island to battle against each other. We will see next week who will remain victorious of the 3 on Redemption Island.

I will touch on RI later in the blog.

Albert Destrade

Since Wednesday there have been a lot of comments made to the tune of "this season is getting way too predictable" and a lot of fans are using terms like "drinking the Coach Kool Aid" and that Coach Wade is some Mobfather fiefdom.

Albert and Sophie are catching a lot of flack for not risking a big move to change the game and shift authority around.

In reality Albert has been attempting changes and shifts for a while now and has been out voted on everything. The problem with Albert I tend to think is more paranoia anymore as he feels he maybe out at the next Tribal. But meditating on it today I tend to think he might not be after all.

Coach's main strategy in his original seasons was more about "taking strong players to the end" and I don't see him shifting to a different strategy. Albert has some security with Coach because firstly he is part of Coach's original 5 and retained some power in old Upolu. Albert also found the clue to the Immunity Idol and shared the clue with both Sophie and Coach so knowing Coach the way I do..I can't see Coach targeting Albert because of this also. Coach's main focus is loyalty and he has maintained that with Albert.

It's very possible Albert may go to the Finals with Coach based on Coach's previous strategy and based on their relationship. To be honest the idol possession played a small part in not targeting Coach directly but I think Albert realized he has a better shot at Finals with Coach than a Savaii member.

In fact were Albert to take say..Dawn to the end- his chances of winning are very slim. Whereas you can plot that sweet move especially as Final Tribal is looming in a matter of days..a big move requires precise timing so it doesn't bite you in the butt a Tribal or two later. Think about it this way..had they targeted Edna and took her out and then forced Coach to play the idol next round..what would happen if say by next Tribal _ Coach has romanced Cochran back and has Rick and Brandon as well? Most likely you are targeted. The time for a plausible successful "big move" was around merge. This late in the game there is jockeying for position to be expected and like I said last blog I think Coach has an exigency plan in effect.

Albert is smart though to play on Cochran's neurosis and his fears of an ouster soon. I am not too sold on the fact that it will be Cochran next. It may happen but I tend to believe that it might be Brandon instead. With the Pagonging of Savaii..Coach has lots of room to play with now. He doesn't necessarily need a player who is an unknown variable and who doesn't know how to keep his opinions in check. Plus Brandon tends to stress people out (except for maybe Cochran lol) so I can foresee Brandon going either in the next vote or two. Which will further reinforce less paranoia in Albert.

Though Albert does have some power to some extent...the true force is with Coach. Most likely what binds the tribe to Coach is respect and the fact that he has built solid relationships with each player. As long as Coach continues to balance those he will through just a psychological edge..be able to maintain absolute authority on Te Tuna-Upolu.

So like it or not folks..I don't see Albert flipping. Because Albert realizes his best shot is with Coach. I honestly think Albert is at the end with Coach and figures into his final game play.

Assessing Coach this Episode

The best way to describe the game play of Coach Wade is methodical. Each step he has taken into the game has been careful and thought out. Yes I do believe he discusses each exit with his allies and tho Coach to Cochran dismissed being a leader ..I do think he is and has the final say.

I think his fearsome grasp on his tribe is excellent game play. By having absolute total power over each decision means that he is aware of each move as well as can assess the way that the people involved are seeing the ebbs and the flows of the game as it stands at that moment. It helps in directing the various strategies around and keeps a person on top of it all. By perhaps an inflection in a person's tone or the vibe you are receiving while talking to them u can also be aware if there is a blindside coming your way as well. Case in point : "Albert's been acting squirrely lately" Coach no doubt could detect it from their strategy sessions which made him focus on Albert's doings around camp. Coach has had to really stay two steps ahead of each person since merge and how he is doing it is by observation and his honed instincts.

I do think Coach of everyone has a more clearer perspective on the game. I notice this season how Coach is more island bound and more observant than he was in previous seasons. Plus I do feel he was the one whom Jim recently referred to as warning Jim that if he gave up the idol that he would be the one targeted instead.

I do tend to agree with Coach's approach on making sure everyone at the moment feel comfortable and not targeted. Like the "rule" quoted above..when someone feels they are on the bottom that's when you need to watch out for blindsides. Of course at some point the pecking order will be established but until it is why borrow trouble?

Coach has won loyalty to him by giving that loyalty. Which is why I think Upolu peeps can't quite pull that plug yet.

Which is why you will see Coach Wade at the Final Tribal facing a jury.

Sophie The One To Watch

The emerging of Sophie post merge is fun to see. She is showing herself to be a power woman not unlike Stephenie LaGrossa (S10-11) and in a way she has the cunning of Cirie Fields as well. I think Sophie, like Coach has a really great read on situations happening in the game as she has a very observant nature.

I feel the reason she did not flip as well is that while Sophie may want to flirt with a power move; I think Sophie realizes the stakes more so than Albert does. She realizes that to flip she's chancing being removed first on the pecking order due to her being formidable in challenges of late. Which is something I doubt Sophie will risk this far in. Plus she too has to realize that to go up against Dawn or Whitney would cost her a shot at the mil as the majority of jurors will be ex Savaii.

Sophie strikes me more as the more intellectual one of the two. Whereas Albert may have some diplomacy skills..it's Sophie that has the instincts more honed. Which as I alluded to earlier of gauging the decisions to make based on the general interactions you have with others and knowing the best route to go. So it's very possible that she realized to shake things up at this stage would be more riskier and opted not to do so.

I do see Sophie as being a force to be reckoned with and do feel she has merited a shot at the Finals alongside Coach as well.

Redemption Island

Again we saw Ozzy emerge victorious at Redemption Island which actually is a no brainer. Ozzy is eating well and as he stated he is not having to contend with the normal wear and tear of the game with all of it's social parts.
Something that Ozzy is the most weakest at. He appears to still be flourishing there but for how long?

One of his competitors coming up is Dawn and she is no slouch when it comes to challenges and she has bested him already in one. Ozzy tends to strike me as thinking he is the King of Exile Island. That he will automatically beat each duelist coming onto the island. However one of the competitors coming in is no push over and Ozzy need keep this in mind as he goes to duel Dawn. Definitely the next duel should be one to watch.

Well gonna keep things light this week. Hope everyone enjoyed this past episode. The next one should be a recap episode from what I hear which is awesome as I love recaps! A lot of tidbits in them..secret scenes and scenes that often tickle the funny bone as well.

Welcome to another weekly ride into a journey we call Survivor South Pacific. This episode was ready at the get go. So with that in mind let's get 'er going!

Ozzy's Strategy of Redemption Island

Redemption Island

A chance for redemption is the premise it was initially supposed to be. If you are voted out of the game it is there to give you a shot to return back into the game at a later date.

However this season it became strategy rather than a symbol of the game.

Which is why I think they should get rid of it. Don't bring it back. It's becoming less of the meaning it was supposed to be intentionally meant for and is becoming like Grand Central Station for Ozzy Lusth..a guy who's only real skill for Survivor is catching fish and winning challenges. So guess what is ideal for him? You got it!

Redemption Island

On RI you don't have to play a social game. In fact you really don't have to play the game at all unless you want to plant seeds into people's heads. On RI your only two concerns are eating what you can find (in this case a big fish) and winning challenges. Right up Ozzy's alley. So it's no shocker that Ozzy quite probably approached Savaii and said "guys let me go back to RI. I volunteer!"

Though it wasn't shown on the episode I honestly think he did. The clues are what he said at the end of Tribal Council "You guys fell for my master plan!" and how he laid it all out at Tribal.

Several edits tell me he may meet with success on RI. The scene just after his exit that I term "the mer-boy scene" show just what he said he would do which is catch a lot of fish and the fish he caught was pretty hefty. Daily eating large fish like that will keep his strength up for challenges. Plus Ozzy seems to thrive in that type of environment. The scene of him climbing up a tree shows he is at home there. Without the stressors of the active part of the game Ozzy is most likely gonna do well on Redemption Island.

Which in my opinion shows the balance sum of his game. Which can be summed up in the fact that he prefers solitude on RI to an active social strategical game. That this option is the only way he has to advance!

For someone to get far on the basis of that is in my opinion a mockery of what true Survivor stands for. It's out wit out play out last.

That means other competitors in the game setting itself.

Ozzy in my opinion doesn't have that ability. So he uses RI to keep him in as far as RI can take him. Which most likely will take him to the return into the game and then an exit post return.

We shall see but in the edit I did see some hints of the above.

Why Jim Made Himself Dispensable

Well it looks like for Jim Rice it was open mouth insert foot at Tribal Council. What was all this about "honor and integrity"? Man was that too direct or what? I just didn't buy it either. It seemed so contrived. Like it was a play towards Coach more than anyone. As Coach is the decisive Upolu power. Coach didn't buy it tho and stated that for them to vote off Cochran would be like sending a message that "to stand up for yourself will get you screwed over".

However what Jim did was appear way too desperate and over emotional. Plus he showed he can be very strong in challenges in winning an immunity.

The way he approached Coach Wade's 2 strategical allies Albert and Sophie was like watching some military movie and watching Gregory Peck as General Douglas MacArthur in a scene doing war planning. It actually seemed funny. Plus his referring to drinking the "Coach Kool Aid" cracked me up!

But where Jim had his downfall was he oversold the Cochran speech. He wouldn't let go of his anger at Cochran and therefore made himself expendable. As it appears that for the moment to assuage Cochran's fears; Coach and Upolu are allowing his voice to be heard on key voting decisions. Cochran isolated the next two votes right off the bat. Ozzy went and then Jim. So by not chilling out Jim made himself expendable. Then just kept layering it on. If he would have stayed lower key I think Dawn may have gone first but instead Jim inserted his foot into his mouth and through that he ended up on the chopping block.

I have heard from a former member of his tribe however that Jim did not play an honest game though. So much for playing with integrity.

However I did like Jim as he had a great strategical mind and I loved his confessionals which were often smart and amusing.

From Under The Radar To Viable Threat: Dawn Meehan

From the beginning of the season something about Dawn Meehan reminded me so much of Holly Hoffman. Now watching her post merge I see shades of Holly emerging big time.

Like Holly; Dawn has won immunity.

Like Holly; Dawn is social, compassionate, caring.

However unlike Holly; Dawn doesn't quite yet have her feet into the Upolu circle. She could have flipped with Cochran as she initially wanted to..but Dawn held back. The holding back is strategical but I think it also hurt her as well.

However as it stands now Dawn is a pretty viable threat in the game.

(Social Threat) Threat Assessment 1: Dawn is social and way too likable. Case in point Upolu cheered her on to win and Dawn even said "I will stay up here longer so you can eat more" By saying that she is trying to get on a good side with them. But in reality if they are still your competition you don't want them stronger than you so they can beat you next challenge. By eating that gives them strength. Caring is great and shows a capacity to reach out but it may be what bites you in the foot next challenge.

(Physical Threat) Threat Assessment 2: She is showing she can win or come close to winning challenges and is strong. At each challenge so far Dawn has won two immunities and placed 3rd in one and second in another. She's feisty and capable. She could go on a run if needs be to save herself.

(Strategical Threat) Threat Assessment 3: Her recent extending an olive branch to old Upolu. Knowing how to hold back before treading water until the numbers were lower makes her a strategical threat as well. She hasn't flipped yet but she is flirting with it. Which Coach and Upolu can see through. I don't think Coach and Company will provide a door for her. Mainly because she would be the player NOT to take to the end.

Dawn would be a nightmare to take to the Finals for any Upolu member as she would most likely garner all the Savaii votes. Which is enough to guarantee a win. A thinking Upolu member will not allow her that far though and knowing Coach Wade's game...most likely she is next on the chopping block. As taking her farther in means handing her the game. Which is something I doubt Upolu will do.

Dawn is amazing though and I have much respect for her!

Sophie: Classy..Strong..Smart!

I love me some Sophie Clarke.

She is the girl I wanna be when I finally decide to be it. She speaks Russian. She is a highly observant player. She's physically strong in the challenges and came within inches of beating Jim (darn it!) The one thing I like about Sophie are her confessionals. You can tell she has already assessed it, stored it and has formed a plan.

I think besides Coach; Sophie is the next one I could root on for a win this season as well. She's fun. She's classy. She's fast becoming my she-ro. I am going to start watching her closely as now they are starting to show more of her strengths.

She has I feel been a strategical balance for Albert and for Coach Wade. I love how when she is talking strategy or listening to someone else's strategy it appears as if she is looking a hole right through someone.

She could end up being the dark horse this season.

This is the Season Of Coach Wade. Biggest Comeback Ever?

This season has proved to everyone that this is definitely the season of Coach Wade.

The Maestro of Survivor has played a solid game from the start and has not wavered in his goal to win this season. He started out being called a "temporary player" by Christine (who in the end was the "temporary player") and the start was shaky. But Coach immediately established bonds with the majority of his new Upolu Tribe.

Sharing his knowledge of Russian with Sophie. His faith and Christianity with Brandon. His being a Coach with Albert. (I can see Albert easily filling the role as Assistant Coach or Co Coach) Edna's kindness towards him built trust between them. Trust that could take her to F2/3 with him. He also has garnered respect with Rick who is a long time fan of the show.

All these social connections built relationships on a one to one level between each and established Coach's footing. With his natural tendency to lead; the next step of leadership occurred naturally.

Through Coach's abilities and leadership his tribe thrived. They ate well. They had shelter. Disagreements were handled and the spiritual aspect of prayer also helped at a crucial time as well. As I stated in my podcast interview..you could see the difference between both tribes at the Immunity Challenge. By merge Savaii was a train wreck and coming apart at the seams whereas Upolu was more unified and cohesive. Thanks to the leadership of Coach.

With each step post merge we all have seen how Coach can read strategies before they even occur. He knew the deal with Cochran/Ozzy. He knew the deal with Jim. He knows the deal with Dawn. Plus the teaser shows he even knows that Albert is up to something that could cost his game. Strategically I see Coach as playing human chess and thinking 2 moves ahead of everyone. I think he realizes that the people he is aligned with would try to pick now to challenge and take over. I think he's prepared for it. His argument may well be to take a Savaii member will cost a Upolu the game.

As it stands now Coach's only non variable is Brandon if there is any attempt. If Albert and Sophie were to lie and wait and work on Brandon to turn; then this is where Cochran fits in.

If Albert and Sophie were to attempt a change in ranks Coach's relationship and mentorship with Cochran could be his saving factor. Which is why Cochran sleeps between Coach and Edna. Plus another argument Coach can make is that anyone can beat him due to his returning player status. Thereby mute any attempt at any takeover. Bottom line Coach is playing SMART.

I have hope that his motto of Trust No One and Slay All (S20) will be in spades as this season winds down. Coach Wade just by making it this far with power has already out shone his two previous merges. With a complete Pagong of the Savaii Tribe looming on the landscape...it's very possible that Coach Wade not only has this season sewn up and that this will be his best season yet and the BIGGEST COMEBACK Of a Survivor to date! He has definitely been the best player this season from start to finish!

Wow what an amazing episode! In fact as far as seasons go this season is turning into one of the best seasons I have ever watched and for good reason. The dynamics, the cast and the game itself just keeps getting better with each episode.

Survivor has really grown in the past 23 seasons and has expanded beyond just a game for a million dollars. The past two seasons have explored Christianity more so than they have previously before. Last season it was Matt and this season you see three cast members mentioning prayer and a tribe holding prayer circles.

This episode revolved itself around an issue that has become focal in light of technology and the progression we have as a culture. Namely the issue of bullying.

At center of this issue is John Cochran former Savaii and now full blown Upolo in light of a flip over at Tribal Council on their second vote. A flip that caused his former tribe members of Savaii to pounce upon him with names like "coward". But if you were in Cochran's shoes, what would you have done?

Let's explore what I feel are the reasons Cochran chose to flip:

First off plain and simple Cochran must have felt like he didn't belong on the Savaii Tribe. On the edit itself there were scenes where Ozzy-Elyse made fun of Cochran calling him "the coch-train that could" or something to that effect and edit wise did appear that Cochran felt like he had to work harder to impress people in order to stay.

In one scene I do recall from the near beginning of the season there was a moment when Cochran was cutting open a coconut while Keith was standing nearby. Cochran offered the coconut milk to Keith who when he looked at Cochran seemed to look at him dismissively. Just how Cochran was trying to appease him during this scene made me think of how many times when I was younger I did the same exact thing with people who thought they were better than me. Like all school ground life.. these "bullies" would tease me mercilessly about either my clothes, my hair or the fact that I was getting great grades. I could see the same thing happening now as I look back and reflect on this scene. Plus just how people would treat Cochran..as if he didn't quite fit into the Savaii Tribe.

Cochran from Day 1 was skating on thin ice and was spared pretty much by Jim. Primarily because of Jim's need for someone there weaker than him as a target or a number in deflating Ozzy. Which are legitimate ways to play the game itself.

In turning at merge Cochran is in essence taking his game into his own hands like he stated in the episode. Until merge Cochran was part of strategies thought up by either Jim Rice or Ozzy Lusth. One effective (Jim's)...one that I now theorize Cochran may have realized was an out for him. (Ozzy's)

A strategy that did not make darn fool sense as if they would have sent Cochran to RI most likely Christine would have won That would have made them even as most likely Christine would have flipped. IMO it was self serving to Ozzy as it gave Ozzy a moment to shine and be a hero again. It was honestly not that brilliant a strategy as hyped.

I feel after some meditating on last Wednesday's episode that the "secret agent" was a God send for Cochran not only because it would give him leeway to play with another group of people ..but because he realized that finally he has some options. It was either stay and exit at 6 with one faction or flip and have a shot at Final 4 with the new kids on the playground. Kids who will shelter him, protect him and allow him to feel more at ease. That's been Cochran's main m.o. imo this season staying close to people who would shield him in the game. So now instead of Jim-Dawn it's now Coach-Brandon and possibly Sophie-Albert. Something he is in need of.

Prior to this Cochran's options were more based on what could keep his torch from being snuffed out and could advance him 3 more days. Not necessarily options where he would win the game and thrive in it but whatever could keep him in. So all of the aforementioned were powerful incentives to take a big leap for him.

At the first Tribal with 6 strong here and 6 strong there Tribal would have had a "High Noon" gunfight style feel. Everyone armed for combat and not one blinking. Except the kid who was tired of flying by the shin of his pants.

Somebody had to flip or the dreaded Pick a rock and hope it ain't purple would decide. Cochran realized that to make the flip work he had to first vote with Savaii to perfect the effect of his choice. He told Dawn that he would first vote with Savaii then with Upolo. So to Dawn it should not have come as a huge shock. I do wonder if perhaps the others did know and just assumed he wouldn't actually go through with it. As everyone knew immediately he had flipped and was now with the other side.

However for my fave people Upolo there are plusses on having Cochran with them. Namely they have the numbers. Secondly whoever takes Cochran to the Finals (F3?) can win as a good part of the jury, consisting of former Savaii members will most likely not vote for Cochran. He has effectively made himself Public Enemy Number One simply by standing up and taking his game into a different direction.

In the process Cochran sent to Redemption Island 1/3 of Ozzy's main alliance. Which is not only weakening Ozzy's chances but sending packing a challenge threat. As well as a personal triumph to seeing someone go who has treated him with not so much courtesy as well. So strategically it's sound. As a physical factor it's sound. Upolo's vote also embraces Cochran into their fold now so he can feel more at ease so as a social factor it's sound as well.

Was it too early to pull the plug? Yes possibly. But it was either jump now or take a shot at a purple rock which based on Cochran's anxiety issues; there was no way Cochran could chance that risk. Especially since he has been skating on thin ice pretty much throughout the game so far.

The best moment though and if anything will highlight the brilliance of Coach Wade this season was when Coach and Cochran had that "little chat". Coach not only called him on it but let him know he knew about the idol. That he and his people ain't going no where. It's draw a line in the sand baby..it's you who will have to decide to cross or take a bigger risk than what you assumed you were taking with the double agent idea. You have 1 in 12 shot of drawing a purple rock. Or you can take your game into your own hands.

Coach Wade, folks; is not a dumb individual. I have known Coach now for about 3 years. The man is highly intellectual. He also can sum up someone in like a flash and know how to get on their level with them. People everywhere seem shocked about it, but I am not.

He's a good guy. He's a great player..may I go so far as saying playing a close to perfect game this season. Now he has taken Cochran under wing and will be Cochran's new defender but not so much a defender but a tutor. Cochran will do well to listen to Coach as he can learn a thing or two from him.

So as we go into the next episode with promise of a double elim (Ozzy-Whitney?) and the fallout for Cochran; the dynamics and power shifts should be pretty interesting to watch. It's looking good for former Upolo. I have faith in old Upolo they're a tight solid bunch. Should be awesome next Wednesday!!!

1. In isolating Upolo votes based on Cochran's double agent info the 2 isolated were Sophie and Rick. Sophie because she is just so observant and of course pretty smart. But it makes me wonder why Rick? What are your thoughts on why they isolated him. We've seen next to nothing of him so his vote is an interesting one.

2. Whose game is better Coach Wade's or Jim Rice's?

3. Who in the end will find the ultimate redemption: Coach? Cochran? Ozzy?

One last note goodbyes go to Christine who was defeated at merge by Ozzy. She had a pretty strong run.

ETHAN ZOHN SUPPORT DAY November 12,2011

Recently we learned that Ethan Zohn (Survivor winner Africa; Survivor All Stars) has had his cancer return after 20 months being in remission. This is so awful to hear and with millions of fans and people who support Ethan; I would like to add my prayers for his healing. Speedy healing in fact.

Ethan is an amazing guy and the epitome of the word Survivor as he has courageously battled this disease now for quite some time BUT hasn't let it control his life!

Ethan will be taking part in a marathon and is in training still for it. Which is amazing and courageous! I wish him healing and pray he wins the marathon! If anyone deserves kudos and more and to have a miracle occur..it's Ethan!

He is one of those rare unique individuals..

My thoughts, prayers and good karma is with Ethan and Jenna!

The Main Players At Merge

It's merge time and given the fact that Jeff Probst is Touting with glee it looks like this merge episode is gonna be a doozie peeps! :)

Thought I would do a small assessment prior to merge of a few key players. In my opinion the key players and situations at this point are:

Coach Wade:

Undeniably if any of the returnees are playing their best game yet..it is hands down Coach Wade. Were Coach to win this season he would be termed a Survivor with the biggest comeback in the history of the game.

His game has shades of a "Boston Rob" (S22) feel to it in that he is balancing alliances with each individual on his tribe and holds authority within his tribe. That's not a small feat by any means as a: he is a returning player which going into the game he briefly had a target on him simply because of his status as a returnee. b: having the relationships intact with so many personalities is a difficult job within itself. Yet Coach has managed to do this and maintain the power.

At merge the dynamics will shift as now he and Upolo will face the opposite tribe of Savaii where there could be shifts within their folds namely Cochran. So at merge the true test of will Upolo remain solid will be answered. Plus whether or not "Operation Trojan Horse" will be pulled off is up for debate.

My feeling is this has happened to Coach before on his first season of Tocantins. At merge JT/Stephen pounced on the split dynamics within Timbira to infiltrate & become members of The Warrior Alliance. Their tribe of Jalapao was entering merge at 4 members (soon 3 with Joe Dowdle's evacuation) so they played on separate divisions and used it to their advantage. Going on to gain power over a tribe that was up in numbers and taking each one out one by one leaving only Erinn to remain (who had flipped to their side at merge)

This go round Coach no doubt remembers this merge all too well and is smart enough to not allow this to happen again. So even if Cochran were to flip over my feelings are that Coach will not allow the infiltration to become as rampant as Jalapao's were and will focus on weeding out members of Savaii while keeping his tribe members tighter to him. His relationships are a lot more solid this go round with each member as even Brandon going into merge is saying he will remain true Upolo.

So undeniably while Cochran saw this happen during Season 18. Coach Wade lived it. Coach Wade will probably end up living by the adage of "keep your friends close but your enemies closer" and any attempts to infiltrate will not meet with as much success.

As it stands now Upolo has the numbers and through numbers ...power.

Coach Wade as it stands now is setup to win this season of Survivor South Pacific. Because I can see him increasing in strength throughout the rest of the season. I will hearken back to Coach's own words: "I will allow nothing or no one to cost me this game".

I think he has it this season.

Jim Rice

On Savaii's end and another really smart player playing a great game is Jim Rice.

Jim has been able to navigate the various alliances within Savaii and not be targeted. As in the case of Coach Wade, Jim has pretty much maintained relationships with all except for perhaps Ozzy. It was Jim (mistakenly people give the nod to Cochran) who started the ball rolling strategically to weaken Ozzy. His idea to poke a hole in Ozzy's armor by voting off Elyse led to a brief separation of the tribes with opposing factions ie: being split down the middle. Which knowing Jim he would have been the hidden puppet master behind it all.

Throughout this season Jim has been (like Sophie on Upolo) very observant and very aware of everything happening on his island. As in the case of when Ozzy stated "Coach should get rid of Albert asap before merge" Jim noted this remark and was quick to use Ozzy's words against him to Keith. Leaving Keith to question Ozzy for a sec and for Keith to move (in a rather diplomatic way) against Ozzy. For a moment Jim was able to strain that alliance and probably there are some strains still remaining. As Keith-Whitney were not for the idea of Ozzy going into RI. But the skinny of it is Jim is at the heart of it all.

Something tells me that Jim may try to find a way to work within the realms of old Upolo it may work for him; or then again it may not.

If it had not been for Jim though Cochran would not have remained in the game as far as he has. The real mastermind to watch out for is Jim..not Ozzy...not Cochran. As he is very observant and is not above using whatever is available to keep him longer in the game. I think of Savaii..he is the smarter player.

Ozzy Lusth :

The main focus Ozzy has said all through his season so far is he is desperate to gain some Redemption from his second season. Through watching Ozzy this season I have yet to see anything that would truly redeem him. As he has in his previous seasons, Ozzy has at times been bratty; cocky, childish & a bully. He has not played a good social or strategical game at all. In fact his "m.o" of attractive female alliances have sent two females closest to him to Redemption Island and since both have exited the game.

The one thing he has had work somewhat in his favor is he has found the idol. However he revealed it's existence in a "snit fit" to his tribe when he felt he had nothing to lose. This knowledge would eventually open up a conversation with the one person he has bullied, chastised, poked fun of and in general was a jerk towards; John Cochran. Which is where I feel this Trojan Horse idea took shape.

Survivor purists like myself feel the idea of taking fate into your hands and going to Redemption Island is just fool hardy and definitely shades of the cockiness Ozzy is famous for. However what I think will happen is that Ozzy will use the arena to setup a trap to send Cochran into in order to work within the bigger numbers to take out the ones who targeted his allies and also to break down Upolo within it's ranks.

Where it's a decent plan and strategy what he is not aware of and should be aware of is that this has happened to Coach before. It's safe to say it will have next to no real impact other than what suits Upolo by the extra vote. Ozzy should he survive RI; going into merge is a very large target (due to physical strength at challenges) and I don't see him and Coach as getting along because I think Ozzy will rub people the wrong way. I don't see anyone necessarily wanting him to stick around and I do see Ozzy as making jury should he return.

John Cochran:

Now to the next person who plays a role in this merge episode: John Cochran. I started the season wanting more out of Cochran but have become disappointed in the process. For someone who has written a thesis on the game that was met with honors; in the game itself he has appeared weak at first and floating along on his shins. Neurotic and if not for Jim he would not even be in the game now. Right now Cochran is no threat as he is not strong enough at challenges. So he is not a reward or immunity threat.

Which is why his infiltration is a key. But in flipping he is in effect in no man's land as this will put him at the bottom of the totem pole dynamics wise within Upolo unless he keeps the idol and uses it to work for him. If he were to keep the idol and go against his word; this could be used against him by Jim and members of Savaii. If he were to give it back it makes him vulnerable within both ranks. His main saving grace now would be the Trojan Horse attempt which could spare him a few votes should he be able to make a success of it. But at some attempt being he will be at the bottom of the totem pole; he will be at Upolo's mercy. Though Cochran makes for personality to watch..within the game itself he will also make jury possibly mid way. I don't see much from him and think that the weakness will only carry him so far.

The merge is tonight and it sounds like it will be an awesome episode! Only time will tell of the success of each of the 4 players I have mainly focused on, However this season has not failed to be entertaining and each episode just keeps getting better!

In The Game It's Kill Or Be Killed
Hey yall and welcome to another week of my musings on Survivor South Pacific Episode 7. This episode was definitely one for the books and maybe not in the heroic way that people are thinking. Will touch on that item in a bit.

With that being said cue the orchestral music and let's begin!

Coach is seen speaking of Brandon and said a pretty solid quote of in this game it's a case of kill or be killed.

Coach strategically and intellectually realizes Brandon is a loose cannon and a liability. However I am assuming the Coach side of him still doesn't want to quite give up yet on Brandon.

I saw a video recently where Coach stated that Albert is "paranoid" about Brandon where the idol is concerned and frankly Coach should have been too.

Albert is smart about worrying as now that Brandon knows about the idol; what with the up and down volatile emotions he has, I just keep getting that gut feeling that he may flip at some point. He takes the game very personally.

I know Coach means well and wants to give the kid a shot at proving himself and redemption. But in the back of Coach's mind he knows who his uncle is. Plus Coach has some misgivings as well. Sometimes you gotta go with your gut Coach and now is one of those times. Like you said " kill or be killed"

I've Always Been A Legitimate Force

All week I was rooting on my girl Miki in my pages and group. We all genuinely hoped she would last beyond this RI challenge.

Miki should not have been voted off last week as now more than ever Upolu needs her strength to keep numbers being it is so close to merge. Whereas I'm not quite sure merge is next episode (actually recently I heard it's not for two weeks on a forum) so having Miki around would have at least assured that strength.

So in tribute to Miki I would like to share this song ...which stayed in my head for days! GO MIKI! We love you!!

Now to RI - the challenge was pretty simple and throughout it Miki had full fledged respect and support from her former tribal members Albert and Sophie.

Albert was openly telling Miki tips and advice while ignoring Christine which says a lot to Ozzy and Cochran who were witnessing. Being Savii is down now in numbers they are I'm sure loving the intel.

After the challenge both Albert and Sophie were genuinely upset that Miki lost. In fact that makes two of us as I would have loved to have seen Miki take on Ozzy! I know Ozzy would have preferred the company lol (sorry couldn't resist!)

Miki almost by inches won it but in the end Christine emerged yet again with a win!

That makes 5 times now. Jeff post challenge remarked to Christine stating "so this now makes you a legitimate force to contend with?" To which she remarked: "I've Always Been A Legitimate Force" Yep Christine looks like you are and I may actually root you on next RI. Might.

We shall see against Ozzy next week if she is a contender.

Yes that includes prayer for challenges, idols, etc etc and simply to thank God for His guidance. I have a friend who actually says a prayer before purchasing clothes! In fact as Christians we are taught to pray always and in all circumstances. I loved seeing the prayers this episode. I see absolutely nothing wrong with the fact that the tribe was praying.

The prayers tho seemed to open up a hill of fire ants with some of the fans who watched. Many have anger towards Coach stating he should not have prayed for the idol and during and after the challenge.

But where many of you are jumping to conclusions far as the "idol prayer" goes starts with Sophie's statement (where I believe she misspoke) and stated that Coach was praying to find the clue to the idol whenever the idol was in his back pocket.

Actually if you view the scene it wasn't Coach who prayed for the idol but Brandon. Coach's prayer was for a strong unified tribe and that they would win an important challenge going into merge. Which as a leader that is commendable. Coach if many of you don't know is lead pastor of a church in Susanville, Ca so as a pastor/leader it's natural to want to use prayer to help upbuild others.

Prayer is a good thing and far as Coach is concerned it's his way of trying to build up the spirits of a depressed lagging tribe. Obviously it worked!

Coach this season is playing really well and as I've stated before I see traits of B Rob in Coach Wade's play this season. Where Rob instilled fear to keep the numbers to him; Coach instead instills motivation and compassion at times. People are looking up to him and respecting him and as a result he has maintained close ties to everyone on his tribe. But like last week I need to call Coach out again on something.

What I didn't necessarily like this episode was the sharing of the idol. Coach made the decision due to the fact that he feels this will unify the tribe so close to merge and for the moment it appears to have.

Plus in a video I watched recently Coach mentioned that holding the secret in was tearing him up inside.

I appreciate that Coach has integrity and honor as that is often so lacking in the game. Which is why I appreciate his character and him as a person. But like Albert I worry about what will happen down the line with everyone now knowing about the idol especially Brandon. I just am not a fan of everyone knowing of it's presence and I think down the line it may become an issue. Should I repeat myself with whom? I think we all know.

Coach like you said at Tribal ...some information is best kept quiet.

What NOT To Do In Survivor 101 by Professor Ozzy Lusth

Now to the main crux of the episode..Ozzy and the bonehead move as I call it.
Watching Ozzy this season there should be a theme running through his presence there.

"Survivor 101 For Dummies: How NOT To Play Survivor!"

Let's look at how Ozzy has played this season.

1.He has had numerous outbursts in a game that is primarily socially based and has at moments put his tribe on edge.

2. In one of the fits he told everyone that he was a free agent then severed his alliances. Then proceeded to out his idol.

3. He now has given his idol away to the very person he has treated like crap all through the game. Saying "I want it back tomorrow" ...I cannot believe his nerve! He throws a tirade the size of Mt Vesuvius and bashes Cochran then turns around and says well I had a dream and my dream told me to go to Redemption Island and give Cochran my idol!

LMAO!! Are u kidding me???

You've GOT to be kidding me!

Okay I am gonna treat someone like crap while I have some remote power. I am gonna vote for him several times and then have a huge crybaby tirade against him and then give him an idol and expect him to hand it back?! When he is the weakest link in my tribe and needs it?

Okay that sounds like smart thinking....um...NOT!

Really Ozzy?!

Post merge dude: YOU ARE A THREAT! Helloooo?! Plus do u really expect everyone to just allow you back in...especially Jim who has spent most of his game wanting your butt out?! Okay so theoretically according to your crazy plan that brings the numbers even..should you return.

BUT!

Assuming and what do they say about assume? But let's go on a limb and assume for a moment but instead of crazy assumptions ..let's do some actual based on how it is assumptions.

First off can you actually assume the merge is next? Did some genie in that crazy dream you had prophesy it was next?

The fact is you don't know when merge is PLUS you don't know IF the player WILL return briefly like last season at merge! The return may actually be later down the road! So you don't take time to factor in that what if but just assume that a: you will beat Christine who is on a tear actually. b; that once you beat her you will come back to open arms of Savaii a hero and have your way! c: That Cochran will just cough up an idol and all is well??!

Let's try to think rationally for just a few seconds...firstly if a person has been on the outs the past little while..has acted like a spoiled child. Is a clear immunity threat all down the line..ahm...why should they keep you?

So you are going there to reveal secrets to Christine. Okay....consider this thought and this is totally based on how Christine has been at RI before: who's to say that if you do beat her that she won't turn and in typical Christine fashion give the secrets and intel away?

She may not like Upolu but the way Christine has come off to me she is the type who wants to shake things up. If she can't be there to shake the coconut tree..then she will shake it as she leaves! (flashback: Russell and recently Stacey?!)

Plus you are placing- yet again - a target on Cochran by the intel you've given Christine! Then you expect Cochran who is known for his paranoia to just cough up an idol?!

Does any of this sound heroic to anyone anymore?

He is placing his tribe already at a loss as without Ozzy PRE-MERGE this is like being down two numbers. If the merge is not next then this puts Savaii at a TREMENDOUS disadvantage.

All due to some egotism on Ozzy's part which he has availed throughout his entire game.

PLUS Ozzy did you consider how Keith feels or Whitney for that matter that you gave Cochran the idol? I don't think either is a fan of this.

This move imo firmly places Ozzy in the dumber than dumbass Hall of Survivor Fame and JT no worries..you have been dethroned..you too Tyson! Tho Tyson you still stay pretty close man lol

My opinion is Ozzy just shot himself and his tribe in the foot. Plus no way is Cochran giving up the idol. He would be even dumber than Ozzy if he did so and Cochran is definitely NOT that dumb!

Krista was kind enough to take time to give this statement. Thanks go to Krista and again to April Mueller for all they do for charities! You BOTH rock!!!

Years back, I spoke with April and she had a huge passion to have her own event.

Well folks "She did it!" Her love of animals and Reality combined worked. So two years in a row it was a great success.

I love this event and hanging with the fans. I didn't even want to stop signing autographs,because talking to the fans with Monica along side of me was as serious as it comes.

It is an event that is down to earth, comfortable feel, where you can bring the kids, the family, and really enjoy it. Kids and Adults love the animals and Reality Stars. We are all one reality family, not one reality person is better than the next. The ones that think they are really should rethink that, lol .

Because without the fans, volunteers, without all of us; and without April Muller none of this would be possible.

I truly loved the sponsors, the shirts, the camaraderie, I just love this event!

Everyone this is an EVENT that will bring you fond memories for a lifetime! Charity makes the world go round! Thank You April! Thank you to all the sponsors, I loved the Shirts, the scarves, necklaces, cards, drinks.

This is the second annual event for this festival which was held in Virginia again this year. The event is the heart and soul of my friend April Mueller, whom I have known now for about 4 years. I can truly vouch for April's love and passion for animals. I can truly say she puts countless hours and blood, sweat and tears into this event. I even received an excited text and call at 5 am about the event! So I know how truly excited she is and listened to her passion for the cause as well.

I decided post event to do a write up about the event. But instead of my thoughts; I instead decided to approach a sampling of some who attended. Below are the thoughts of a few who agreed to contribute to my write up. My thanks go to these contributors.

"The event was amazing and world class. The venue(Sharky's) was kick ass and the fans and reality stars were fun and friendly. The Charity itself was very worthy. It's a dog rescue. After learning about a dog named Alice that needed rescuing, a whole dog fighting ring was uncovered as well as corruption by the local small backwoods town government which is connected to the ring. This town still practices racial segregation. That's how backwoods they are. It was amazing to learn about all of this for me being a city slicker. I forget sometimes that the resources, government/law, and support is very different and not as prevalent outside of the inner city.

The event itself was festive. The atmosphere was very united and brotherly/sisterly. There was no ill will over past drama from out time on our respective reality shows. Ozzy and I had shots together several times. It was as though this event had found a way to soothe and smooth over all of the heated rivalries.

The whole event was perfectly wrapped up by pastor John Raymond's Sunday Morning non-denominational sermon. It was both pleasant and poignant. I hope it continues to be a part of this event in the future.

"Got back from the REALITY RESCUE EVENT last night and I have to say that it is one of the most organized fundraiser events I have gone to.I actually stayed an extra night because I was having so much fun. Seeing new and old reality contestants as well as other crazy super-fans was just an added bonus!!! If you haven't gone to this event...YOU NEED TO GO NEXT YEAR FOR SURE!!! April Mueller did an awesome job as everyone told me she would. The event was a good cause with great people making it a success. There were a lot of false rumors out there about Scott Bennett and I will tell you firsthand that he is one of the nicest people I have met in person. He took pictures with us super-fans as well as the reality stars so all the hater's can shove those false comment's where the sun don't shine...BOOYA!!!!!!

Hello again to my fellow Survivor fans and welcome to yet another week of my Survivor musings. The episodes this season honestly keep getting better. The Tribal Councils are very interesting to watch dynamic wise and both tribes are pretty entertaining as well. Survivor South Pacific is fast being added to my list of top favorites and not just because of Coach Wade. Each episode is fast paced and the cast dynamics are very interesting to explore!

With that being said let's take off on yet another weekly journey and delve into issues currently happening on the show.

Ozzy's reaction-Free Agent

As we all know last Tribal, Ozzy's main ally; Elyse Umemoto was blindsided. Ozzy took the news very emotionally in coming back to camp declaring himself a free agent. Then during his snit fit letting the cat out of the bag that he possesses an idol!!

His statement about blindsides show how heated he was about it and the fact that he realizes he doesn't have the hold on his tribe that he had previously believed he had.

The blindside obviously was a blow to Ozzy's ego..so he reacted with ego and had a petulant fit. As a result he announced he is solo agent, no more alliances; he outs the idol (stupid move) and upsets his tribe also.

By the next morning Ozzy is still in a petulant mood. He goes off to fish and stated basically that the tribe cannot flourish without him. Cochran noting this drama stated about Ozzy that he was "acting like a stupid bitch" which was a chuckle amidst the drama. But you gotta admit the kid was right.

I hate to be a bearer of bad news to Ozzy but if you choose to be a jerk and act like a male diva..the tribe could find a way to live without you. As it stands now once Ozzy came to his senses, apologized and made amends..Jim said it best that Ozzy's needed now to help win challenges to get the tribe up in numbers to merge. But from then on..the target will be "ginormous". Ozzy has placed himself in a tenuous situation and is now on the outside looking in. He maybe able to resurrect something through his alliance with Keith and possibly Whitney but the snit fit won't be forgotten or the tidbit about the idol. His snit fit just enlarged the bullseye.

Post snit fit the tribe was able to get their act together and win immunity! Then Ozzy was able to make a solid alliance with Keith and most likely Whitney will be their 3rd.

In short, Ozzy is necessary for the moment. But once the merge happens Ozzy is basically someone that will be used to deflect targets off people. But if Upolu gets it's act together over there with their issues at hand...Ozzy most likely will be target number 1. Keep that idol close by Oz!

Jim the one to watch

I like Jim Rice.

If anyone has been consistently strategical since Day 1 it has been Jim.

Jim engineered the blindside of Elyse Umemoto in hopes of weakening Ozzy which it did for a moment and was successful in creating a larger target on Ozzy.

But the one thing I like about Jim is his straight on view of the game and how he is able to pounce on anything at the slightest moment. Currently his allies are Cochran-Dawn. But I can see Jim being able to talk himself into a possible alliance with Ozzy-Whitney and Keith. Jim is a smart guy and will make himself avail for whatever situation he notices and can use for his advantage.

I can see him working out a way for Ozzy's blindside at merge and then capitalizing on it. I think Jim is someone to watch out for in the coming episodes and am interested in his next series of moves that he will make to go further in.

Redemption Island... Christine is breaking down. Goodbye Elyse!

In this episode's Redemption Island we are noticing the wear and tear that little food and isolation is having on Christine Markoski.

The wear and tear of having to be isolated coupled with lack of food has started to wear down Christine; who openly wept within seconds of Jeff addressing her.

This tells me something. As the challenge itself at the beginning showed that Christine is getting worn down by RI just as Matt did last season. In fact by a certain point Matt just seemed a bit lethargic. Which is what I am now seeing starting in Christine. The longer you stay can either strengthen you or it can wear you down. Christine is feisty and tough but she is not as solid a contender as Matt was last season. So I can see her break coming earlier than Matt's did.

The duelist she is meeting next, Mikayla Wingle is going to be her toughest opponent to date so we may see Christine depart next week. Mikayla has had access to food and possesses a tough charm to her. So I am thinking that next week may be a far tougher challenge for Christine and her "female Matt" run may come to an end.

Mikayla is younger. More physical. She's had access to food. She is feisty and fired up after Tribal and being voted off. Mikayla could channel all of this into a win and dethrone the current Queen of Redemption Island.

Now to this past duel:

This week's duel was pretty close. In the end Christine won her 4th consecutive duel in a row, ousting Ozzy's former ally; Elyse Umemoto which was no real shocker.

Christine was business as usual with the attitude doing one of those lame scratching my nose yet I am giving u the finger gesture towards Rick when he offered support. So what's new? She is still her rather abrasive self which she is channeling to keep going.

The shuffleboard challenge was here and there and as I stated earlier Christine seemed to be pretty tired through some of it. But it was a close one.

In the end Elyse Umemoto lost the duel and is now out of the game. She left upbeat though an kissed her buff before tossing it into the fire.

"Lil" Hantz

Over on Upolu we see history repeating itself with Brandon Hantz methodically and furiously searching for a hidden immunity idol. Just like his uncle in 2 of his previous seasons; Brandon found a clue just by walking up to a tree and looking in it's roots area. Coach Wade remarked on how much Brandon reminded him of his uncle. Even citing it was in the DNA.

More and more each week I am seeing characteristics of Russell Hantz within Brandon and this week is no exception. Definitely the DNA is there. Maybe not as strong as it flows in Russell...but it's there.

From the determination to find the idol which had even CBS showing flashbacks of his uncle walking the beach looking superimposed with his nephew...

To Tribal Council with the rant which is so like his uncle in context. Because of the fact that his uncle used forceful statements to get his points across. The only difference is his uncle would not have divulged tribe and alliance dynamics just before a vote which is totally nuts!

This is my take on Brandon and I may add I have been stating this pretty much consistently for weeks now. I think:

a. Brandon has no clear concept of how the game is played and is not cut out for playing the game.

In fact Albert himself acknowledged it during this past episode. Pretty much saying he will not look to Brandon for strategy talks anymore as it's a pointless endeavor.

b. Brandon uses subtle bully tactics just like his uncle when provoked. Just like during Tribal. Plus let's not forget a few episodes ago.

c. Brandon is a powder keg and a loose cannon which the tribe itself readily admits. He reacts emotionally and when he reacts decision wise those outbursts can hurt others strategically somewhere here soon or down the road.

Brandon is such an unknown variable that I am surprised he is still there. The only reasoning I can think of is that no one really considers him a threat. But actually when you consider his emotional game play, he is in his own way; a potential threat that should be considered. In fact I feel it should have been Brandon that should have gone and not Mikayla! In fact he should have been considered!

Really, it should have been Brandon...not Mikayla!

In my opinion...Coach Wade got it wrong in targeting Mikayla Wingle! Plus Albert in Edna!

Mikayla, though she didn't have the best of challenges has a history of being useful in a challenge setting. Such as last week's 2 oz that she picked up off the ground that ended up making a difference! As Albert said the next challenge can make or break the tribe going into merge in a few and Mikayla is useful.

Coach allowed his disappointment at Mikayla's performance coupled with the fact that it was either Mikayla or Edna to cloud his gut feelings about how dangerous Brandon is. He admits he is having flashbacks. He also admits that he doesn't really trust Brandon fully as if he did he would have shared the info.

My question to Coach is..is if you are having flashbacks and you aren't sure of someone..why keep them and shoot yourself in the foot?

During the episode Coach Wade readily admits that Brandon gives him flashbacks to Russell. Coach does not trust Brandon enough to share the news of the idol (even though he sees Brandon looking all over for it) Brandon should he learn Coach does in fact possess the idol will definitely react the way he has throughout which is basically go off half kilter!

My question to Albert is if you are sure you can't even work with someone in talking simple strategy..why keep them around?

Plus if someone in a rant says during Tribal that if you aren't willing to stay loyal..then vote me out right now. Why would you not question the person's motives? In fact why keep them? Why lop off someone who is trying to play the game and is needed in challenges to keep someone who has no idea how to talk strategy ..divulges tribal and alliance dynamics and says vote me out if you are not loyal to your own alliance! Plus Coach Wade why keep someone who could down the road cause you some problems?

Coach you may think you are okay with him now. But you cannot predict him!

Most likely Brandon will flip on Coach as after all during his rant at Tribal he kept bringing up loyalty and trust. If he finds out about the idol chances are he will go off! Should this be post merge Coach may have a situation to contend with..with Brandon as Brandon will reveal that Coach has the idol.

By targeting Mikayla and sticking with the vote for Mikayla ~ Coach AND Upolu made a critical mistake that I feel will come back to haunt them all. As they need to get Brandon out soon.

The Grey Area (Upolu Dynamics)

As we sit now in this segment of the season and with Edna now in tow, Coach Wade now has made it to a solid power position.

The position prior to this was some balancing of power between Coach Wade and Albert (who still retains some power)

Now with total absolute power, Coach is essentially right now the foundation or base of his tribe.

He is now balancing alliances with each member just as he attempted to do in Heroes vs Villains. Except this time he has the concept figured out. The only drawbacks to this balancing of power is that with his battle to spare Edna he has revealed the extent of the importance of her alliance with him to his allies Albert and Sophie.

Similar to Rob's season in S22, Coach has authority..however the difference between the two is that while Rob's faction followed him blindly or for alternative reasons allowed him to make each decision; Coach's two allies Albert and Sophie actually think for themselves and will challenge Coach on decisions affecting their tribe as we saw last episode.

Loyalty and trust are still central to this tribe and is the main foundation of Coach Wade's game. However when you are balancing so many relationships, that factor can be called into question if someone feels they are not in a one on one relationship and possible end game. In fact we are seeing that already in Albert.

Plus as I stated earlier Brandon is a possible dangerous dynamic who has positioned himself somewhat close to Coach Wade via sparing Edna. Were he to feel the trust and loyalty is not as strong in his favor he is not above the emotional reaction and divulging of info. Coach will need to keep this in mind and balance the alliance with Brandon carefully.

Plus add Rick who also spared Edna realizing that Coach has the power and also respected his position as that authority. I am not sure of the closeness with Rick but there is a respect factor there.

Balancing a complete tribal alliance can be touchy especially if a tribe member feels like they are not in a solid alliance with you and worries about the end outcome such as Albert does.

What worries me with Coach Wade's baring his strategy concerning Edna is that now Albert is aware of her importance to Coach Wade. Plus Albert is well aware that Coach possesses the idol as well. Albert at some point may try a power play again if he feels it will help his game. If I were Coach Wade I would reassure Albert of the idol and that it is available and make a deal for it's usage. As I am concerned that Albert will now find Edna a threat as well as he may see the relationship as a power of one.

Should this happen at merge Coach Wade maybe voted on to flush the idol and Edna may go which would hurt Coach's game just a bit. As Edna is his most trusted ally and I feel main ally of the whole alliance structure.

Edna is good for Coach's end game. If he were to take Edna to the F2 Coach Wade could win the game!

As Edna will be considered a "C" or coat tail rider plus Edna throughout the game is going to do whatever it takes to stay with Coach and close to Coach as she knows he will shield her now and keep his pact with her.

This is something I think Albert is aware of and might even be the root of why he targeted her. Which I feel is a bit early.

If I were Coach..I would downplay this alliance and work to reassure Albert and Sophie that their alliance is the primary one. If not I worry that Albert will make another power play. But for now...Coach is in the driver's seat and doing great. Let's hope he continues this momentum and is able to balance things in his favor.

Coach-Edna the new Tom/Katie (Survivor Palau)

Speaking of the Edna/Coach alliance....

I feel it is mainly a primary alliance as this past Tribal revealed this dynamic as did the episode. The two in my opinion have some similarities to another Survivor duo who made Final 2 during their season..Season 10..Survivor Palau..Tom Westman and Katie Gallagher.

I noted these similarities:

1. Both connected on Day One

2. Both women were considered weak in challenges and were/are connected to power players who were able to keep them in the game when their names were brought up.

3. Both women were considered at times annoying and very talkative in their seasons

4. Both duos were duos within a larger alliance and as the game progressed their alliances grew and became more set.

5. Should Coach/Edna make F2 as Tom/Katie did chances are the votes would be similar as both Katie and Edna are coat tail riders.

Call it game instinct call it just instinct.. but I think Edna is gonna be a good asset for Coach Wade. All through the game.

Albert stated that Edna is aware in the game and now that she is aware of her position close to Coach.

As the game progresses should they stay aligned, which I feel they will; I can see Coach reaching out to her more strategically as the alliance grows. Especially if he is using her to garner info as he alluded to ..to Albert.

Edna appears weak but she does have some savvy to her. I see her as someone who knows she has a good thing with Coach and she is not going to do anything to endanger that.

In closing....

In the end Coach retains power! While Ozzy is still seeking to get back in and is on the perimeter of his tribe there at Savii.This past episode showed a lot of dynamics shifting and with episode it will only get more telling.

Welcome Survivor fans to yet another weekly recap. Hope everyone has had a lovely week so far and are enjoying the season. The one cool thing about this season is that the tribes for the most part are evenly matched during challenges but with the recent loss at Savii, there may end up being an edge in the favor for the Upolu tribe! If so, this season may continue to fare well in Coach Wade's favor. So far Coach is having an amazing season and if anyone deserves it..the Slayer does! He's becoming a focused and solid player. Like it or not Coach Wade 3.0 may well be sticking around until the Finale and perhaps like Rob did last year..achieving the title of Sole Survivor!

If so the name for this episode is so appropriate all around for Coach Wade that he will FINALLY TASTE THE VICTORY!!! Hope to see it happen!

Now to my thoughts:

Ozzy Micronesia 3.0

Ozzy when will he EVER learn?

He seems so one track now and the description Cochran gave actually is fitting. That when he was younger the role he played was one thing and yes he played that role so well..of Moogli The Jungle Boy..catching fish, a lion at challenges etc. But now Ozzy is in his 30s he has not really grown or adapted himself in any way. He is basically lazing around camp. Gets up to do a little bit of fishing and then comes back and cuddles with a girl. Just like Micronesia.

The only thing is Ozzy now has people who have watched that season and his previous season and are savvy to the routine. His calling card is not gonna work so well this season at all.

The one thing tho as shown on the teaser is that once she is gone..instead of adapting his strategy and game..he takes it personal and severs his alliance! Like a child who had his teddy bear snatched away he is pouting and saying he is a solo agent. Ummm..Ozzy unless there is a tribal switch or something huge comes in the works you may should rethink being a solo agent. The idol maybe nicer this time around snug in the pocket should you exit and win RI at merge (or even being used for one more Tribal) but once it's used..I seriously think Ozzy you are a goner. I am still of the mind that Keith has a better shot at success than Ozzy.

What is going against Ozzy right now is:

You have a history of strength in challenges.
You have a history of the provider role and do it well.
Plus at merge Upolu are gonna rein in tighter and Coach and team aren't gonna flip

So where are your chances if at the moment you are a target? If you decide to blow off your allies..you are basically kissing the mil goodbye plus you social game is weak. I would take the pride stance and put it in your pocket and try to come up with a strategy. But that is another thing I feel Ozzy may not have strength in as well. Strategical thinking. What has carried him in the past has been the dominance in challenges and the provider role. That honestly will only take a person so far if they are lacking in the main aspects of social and strategical. Time to restructure things a lot Ozzy. This is not Micronesia. This is your third and possibly LAST shot!

"Coach should get rid of Albert pre merge"

Speaking of non strategical weaknesses of Ozzy. Who would say within ear shot of some alpha males that your opposite tribe's dominant Alpha should be rid of his lieutenant?

Ozzy are you kidding me? Don't you realize that by saying that you are basically allowing them to see how you would strategically think?!

That's not even a smart strategy at that! From my understanding of a smart pre merge tribal game..you keep the strong as long as possible. That is unless of course your butts on the line.

A normal strategy is keep your tribe strong until merge and then you start working on the weeding out.

I'll digress for just one moment to say that that's the one thing I have noticed the past few seasons. That some pre merge votes have been in the category of "just what were they thinking" votes? The idea of going into merge with some power is obviously to go into merge with numbers and a strong set of numbers at that.

Ozzy made a risky foible there.

Savii Is Dynamic Wise A Mess...

With the power vote the dynamics have shifted but have shifted in a messy way.

On one end you have Ozzy who is now declaring himself a free vote pretty much.

Then you have the "team" of Cochran/Dawn/Jim brought together solely for the purpose to break up the Elyse/Ozzy duo. But now pretty much linked together as Ozzy will probably not align with either of the 3. The Keith/Whitney duo are their own pairing. So basically instead of united as a tribe; they are a tribe of separate but distinct factions. Which will make the voting interesting. May serve well for Cochran as for now he is in the larger faction. But then again if Jim can schlep himself back into a pact more with Keith-Whitney he may well flip.

Cochran somehow has managed to stay alive after so many near misses. Jim has on purpose found ways to save Cochran as much as he could to keep him around handy for moves like Elyse and potentially Ozzy's. So it's almost a by a default alliance.

Then you have the Keith/Whitney pairing..which is probably a more functioning pairing. They did not write Elyse's name down nor did they target Cochran. So in essence they could play with Ozzy once he gets over his snit fit. Plus they could also play in the direction of the other side as the vote for Dawn was in essence a free vote. They are probably the more stronger functioning unit.

Far as the main numbers faction goes: I see Jim as possibly flipping to whatever side that will further him in. I see Cochran as a weak player (still waiting to see some super fan savvy). Dawn who I feel is the smarter of the 3 & a more stable player; can also go in another direction as well if she desires to. I cannot see those 3 as a solid strategical team but I see them as a temporary alliance that has to find a way to remain an alliance.

So in essence instead of a solid tribe..dynamic wise you have 2 sets with their own agendas. Then Ozzy. Ozzy tho is probably gonna end up being main agenda one. Unless Cochran continues telling stories about oral herpes.

"Nobody calls me Benjamin, not even my parents!"

Redemption Island was what I thought it would be. Probably what most of us thought actually. Both women have so much bitterness and vitriolic attitudes and attitudes in general between them that you just wanna tune them out especially Stacey at the duel.

I found myself at first thinking "what a scummy thing" followed by a general feeling of "blah blah blah blah"

Stacey: "Benjamin is leader".."Benjamin tells stories about Chuckie Cheese".. then of course with lips as loose as The Titanic she outs Albert as lieutenannt in chief followed by Sophie. She says she feels that the F2 is gonna be "Benjamin-Albert" unless you watch out for those two.

Stacey/Christine: "Watch out for Benjamin!"

In essence what Stacey said or inferred about "Benjamin" is that he lies so much that if Pinocchio was around his nose would be 100 feet long! Blah Blah Blah!

Her eyes were big..she was frothing at the mouth practically and kind of reminded me of the characters you see in movies that act so wild just before jumping in a riot. She was disrespectful, she felt if she was going out she was gonna take some down with her. Blah Blah Blah!

Once Coach knew what had occurred and that Stacey had put a small country sized bull-seye on his back; of course the first reaction would be anger and annoyance at her. Then of course annoyance and anger at her disrespect of him by choosing to address him by his given name instead of his title.

Whichever way you address someone should be up to the person with the title. I feel it is their given right to choose to have you address them by their given name or by something they have worked hard to achieve. It's not that big a deal. Except Stacey/Christine turned into a big deal due to their bitterness.

The fact Stacey chose to address Coach Wade as "Benjamin" shows her lack of respect for Coach Wade (plus when people go to that length..maybe even lack of respect for themselves as to give respect to begin with..you should at least have some for yourself) So I personally understand Coach's annoyance. But if anything when you lump that disrespect in with the fact that she revealed dynamics...well that just opens up another can of ugly spewing wiggly worms. Pretty ugly and shows a reason that Redemption Island should not be gathering information station A as that is one of the risks that comes with opposing tribes coming to a duel where BOTH opponents are from the same tribe and very bitter. Brings a dangerous dynamic to the game.

In the end Stacey showed the same risk in playing the challenge and ended up losing it. I can't say I am sorry to see her go as that would be a false statement. Christine is again victorious and stays solid for yet a third time. Hopefully her card will be up soon as well. But I think the longer she stays..the stronger she gets.

Buh bye Stacey!

Idol Time! "ask and ye shall receive"

Now that thanks to Stacey the cat is fully out of the bag..Albert realizes he needs insurance. He starts looking right then and there for the hidden immunity idol which is a pretty smart move on his part. But where he may have over thought based on his own agenda was sharing the idol.

Some one did a statistic on people winning the game having shared the info and the odds were not that good at all. I can think of a couple right off the top of my head..Yul (S13) Todd (S15) so it's not a smart move to share info. However again I add: I, being a Coach Wade fan am GLAD he did as "possession is 9/10ths of the law" and Coach Wade has found it baby!

It does show the tribe Upolu's main dynamic of Coach-Sophie-Albert. As that is who Albert selected to hunt with.

On a side note the idols are legal possessions of the returnees. I don't see Coach needing to use his anytime soon but Ozzy may well need to use his.

SPIT..CHEW...OR SWALLOW!

UGHY!
DISGUSTING!
GROSS!

But I am assuming if you haven't had meat in almost 2 weeks and if all you had to eat were a few spoonfuls of rice or some fish ..a spit filled, barbecue glazed side of pork pulled by the teeth would seem like filet mignon.

The challenge came down to just TWO OZ. that separated both tribes and those two oz. was I think a nod to Mikayla who when Rick dropped the little chunk of meat on the ground, Mikayla had no trouble whatsoever with bending down with her mouth to the dirt and snagging that baby up! Her decision won her tribe a spit filled feast!

So I will have a side of that sea salt, spat meat feast please Brandon and toss some of them Cajun veggies in too...yum! Yum!

Plus Upolu is safe another week..life is great there!

The Time Is Now!

In the end as I stated before the time had to be now to pull the trigger on the Elyse-Ozzy duo. In Jim's eyes it weakens Ozzy but if you think about it it also weakens the tribe as well as now the dynamics are all over the map. Elyse did not see it coming at all. I think in the end the pair that will benefit the most may well be Keith and Whitney. Only time will tell but it looks good for them.

So in the end, the season's first blindside was pulled off and Elyse Umemoto, Ozzy's little snuggle buddy will head to RI and my thinking is will be game exit 4 as I think Christine is a stronger player physically.

But on reflection does she remind you a little bit of Yve Rojas? The looks, the fact that both were close to men who were considered leaders and who had some celebrity attached to them. Just a thought....

Again CONGRATS on the idol Coach Wade!! It's awesome you possess it! YIPEE!

Keeping my opinions to myself hasn't been fun for the first 4 episodes of Survivor. It's time for me to start blogging about every episode and giving my opinions on different castaways and all the strategies going on inside the game. This week we witnessed the first huge blindside of this season. Elyse didn't see it coming from a mile away that she was going to redemption island.

A showmance on survivor always seems to backfire. Let's go back to Fans vs favorites. Ozzy and Amanda became a showmance and it made other cast members very leery of them both.

Parvati and Cirie rallied to oust Ozzy from the game knowing with Ozzy gone, Amanda would stay loyal to them to the end. Ozzy was blindsided with the idol in his pocket and sent home.

Did Ozzy learn his lesson? No. Ozzy decided to start another showmance with Elyse and quickly a huge target went on them both. Jim, Cochran, and Dawn wanted to break the two of them up. With Ozzy's strength in challenges and his ability to provide around camp, it became obvious that Elyse would be the target.

The only problem was they needed Keith or Whitney to vote with them. This leads us to another huge mistake Ozzy made in this episode. Ozzy blurted out that Coach should get rid of Albert if he is smart.

This immediately jumped out at Jim and he used this to his advantage to persuade Keith to switch his vote from Cochran and get rid of Elyse. Let me clearly state I like Ozzy and I respect the way he dominates challenges and provides for his tribe. I thought his strategy would be better this time around, but it appears he may have gotten worse in that aspect of the game.

Cochran has been on the chopping block since day 1, but yet he continues to stay in the game. I am not surprised he is still around because his character seems to get a lot of screen time as if he will be a major character in this season. Other than his screen time and his ability to make people laugh with some of his comments, Cochran has not done anything in this game.

He puts his foot in his mouth at every tribal council giving people more reason to want to vote him out. He seems to keep lucking out because there is always someone else that needs to go more. Did Cochran really do anything to keep himself safe this episode? In my opinion, No. Cochran again buried himself after the challenge commenting on herpes and at tribal, he keep running his mouth annoying people more and more.

The reason why Cochran is still in this game is because Jim worked hard to keep him safe. Jim is making moves and playing a good game up to this point. He understands that they cannot give Ozzy the power or he will run through this game much like Boston Rob did last season. Do I think Cochran still has a chance to become a major player in this season? Yes. I think he has the ability to make a big power move and propel himself deep in the game, but I need to see more from him before I am ready to say he is playing a good game.

Elyse went home, but I do not think it was a good decision by the tribe to do this. I think Keith and Whitney gave more power to Jim in this game when they were holding all the cards. The tribe is a lot weaker keeping Cochran in the game. Lastly, I do think if Cochran makes the merge, he may turn his back on the tribe and switch to the other side. I would not put a lot of trust in him especially since the whole tribe has made him feel like an outcast.

Before I end this blog, I do have to make mention of the other tribe. Is it just me or does Coach drive you crazy? Coach is playing a magnificent game through 5 episodes. He has done a complete 180 from the previous two times he has played the game, but the man still gets under my skin. I am sorry Bren I know you love the guy. I am impressed by the way Sophie is playing also. I need to see more from her, but I can see her making it deep into the game. She caught onto Brandon on day 1 and seems to understand how to play the game. Until next week, that is all I got.

A Matter Of Trust

Welcome again to another weekly installment of my thoughts and perceptions on this recent episode of Survivor South Pacific. I am going to try to do my best to write as fluidly as possible. The past few days I have been suffering from a bad head cold and am still in the throes of it. My kudos to whomever invented NyQuil as they are my unsung hero at the moment. Hopefully it will kick out soon. Plus hopefully it will not affect my writing at this time.

all apologies

As the episode starts really gaining momentum we see two dynamics. The first I will cover next, but instead I will start off on something that for the life of me I just can't fully get.

Namely why is Brandon apologizing to everyone? And I mean EVERYONE.

He starts off by apologizing to Mikayla which seems to make some shaky peace. However it's not quite on a secure foundation as Mikayla does not trust him at all. Somewhere in the back of her mind is a: he is Russell's nephew...he has had shades of Russell emerge before; so will those shades emerge again? b: she also wonders why he does things without thinking and then acting in a passive aggressive manner; turns around and begs forgiveness? She (like us all) thinks he is a wonderful kid, but he has her totally not sure of what's up. So I don't think she's fully buying things but is accepting the apology for the moment to keep peace between them. I can see Mikayla is still on edge and waiting for the next passive aggressive shade to rear up again.

The next apology was to Edna.

He approached Edna quietly in the hut and shares that she is not fully in their alliance and that no one is really taking her that seriously. Brandon by doing that has now planted seeds of doubt inside of an already nervous Edna's mind.

But if you think about it. Brandon though well meaning, should not have done that. For one, she is there at the behest of the main leader, Coach Wade and is HIS side ally. Or extraneous ally. Coach Wade calls the shots in camp due to his position as leader and Coach Wade said from the beginning that as long as he could make sure of it..that Edna was safe. So that means no matter what Edna has a safer route than say...Stacey. Coach Wade I doubt would make a promise to Edna that he doesn't mean to keep and at this point my perception is that Coach Wade trusts Edna more than Brandon, whom he has already caught in 3 lies.

So of the two I would say Edna has more of a shot with Coach as she has more of a trustworthy pact with Coach Wade (for whom trust means everything) than with Brandon whose trust with Coach Wade has become somewhat conditional. My thinking is somewhere deep seated Brandon realizes that Edna as in the case of Mikayla can usurp his place in the alliance. And though the apology may have some sincere elements ..I feel beneath the skin there is something more happening as Brandon makes his decisions based more of the fear and insecurity element than really thinking it through properly. For if he had, in the case of Edna, he would have realized she has a slot as long as Coach Wade can consider her trustworthy and can keep her in. I think he jumped the gun on this one and unnecessarily frightened Edna.

The third apology had me shaking my head. Here you have Papa Bear saying just moments before that he would flip to the Upolu side should he have a shot back. Brandon hears it...but blew it off. To apologize to someone who honestly could not care less or accept it fully!

Again Brandon means well...he is a wonderful kid. He has a beautiful heart but I don't think he's cut out for the game. His decisions show that. His words at the beginning of the show about what the game does to people show that. His roller coaster paranoia and emotions show that. He doesn't think and that will hurt him eventually.

The Plot

The next meaty part of the episode is brewing over on Savii Island. A plot is brewing over there. Namely, the realization of Jim that he is at the bottom of the "beautiful people alliance" totem pole and that he will be next after the exit of Dawn/John.

So of course it would make perfect sense to strike first; go to an ally he originally approached to begin with namely John Cochran then in his smarmy witty way approach an idea to not oust OZZY but instead ELYSE!

For one Jim is not close enough to the throne so as to speak to be privilege to strategical info. His attempts to talk to Ozzy about strategy meets with mockery after he walks off plus he has no real clue that Ozzy has in his possession the Hidden Immunity Idol. I think Jim is the male part of Christine in that he is playing aggressively out of the gate and that few trust him there. He is playing both sides which is obvious. But the time to pull the trigger is now past as I doubt he can get the votes to get Elyse out as it would be 4 on 3 unless he can flip ONE person....but I doubt that is going to happen.

Breaking down the voting sets:

Whitney/Keith are a tight duo.

Ozzy/Elyse are a tight duo

Which leaves Jim on the outer perimeter between two factions making deals.

Then u have Dawn and Cochran.

It's possible he could sway Keith/Whitney but somehow I can't see those two pulling the trigger yet UNLESS the pot is sweetened. I can't see it happening but stranger things have happened.

Personally I don't think people trust Jim. Cochran uses several adjectives to describe him. Too white teeth, used car salesman...etc. Below the surface Cochran doesn't trust Jim but is going with it as right now that is his one chance. But Cochran wants a big move. In theory a big move would set the pace of the game.

But there's one pesky little matter..the HII.

Would Ozzy be dumb enough to use it on Elyse to spare her? Would Ozzy play it just in case? Or will this all detonate and become a huge blindside of the main plotter Jim, whom no one takes seriously in the big group and whom is not fully trusted in the smaller group?

My gut says Jim is the one in the end who will end up on the outs. The numbers aren't there..a time for the move has past; Keith/Whitney won't pull the trigger too soon and in the end..no one trusts Jim. Especially when they realize he is playing both sides of the fence.

the alluring elyse

At the center of the Savii plot is Elyse Umemoto.

She is beautiful.
She is sociable.
She is also Ozzy's muse.

Ozzy's m.o is a beautiful girl. An impressionable eye candy that he can keep around to vote unquestionable with him and guys enjoy looking at.

Even Cochran/Jim stated they did not want to vote her off as she is a beauty to look at. But she is also the main one closest to Ozzy now and in essence Ozzy's female ally. They spend a lot of cuddle time together and are bonding. Plus Elyse has an alluring charm about her like the sirens that used to lure the sailors to their demises. Ozzy could easily use or avail himself of Elyse to charm someone to their side. He also should she be targeted and successfully voted off..lose a solid member of his set.

By being thisclose to Ozzy Elyse has made herself a target as Survivor rule number one: a couple is dangerous as they are one move..one vote is always a factor in any major strategical shakeup. As long as the power of two stay as the mind of one in the game..u can end up seeing another Boston Rob/Amber with the F1 and F2 sewn up.

So no matter how alluring Elyse is..being thisclose to Ozzy is gonna be dangerous for her. AND for Ozzy!

The Duel/so long sweet Papa Bear

The duel this past episode was a nail biter! It was so close that it could easily have gone either way.

In the end Christine emerged victorious and we sadly have to say a farewell to the very classy Papa Bear Anthony Caruso. Papa Bear had wanted to be on Survivor for a long time. But sadly never did fit in into the cliques over at Savii. He was a good sport and eloquent in his exit.

Good bye Papa! I will miss you bro!

Christine's Vengeance

At the end of the duel we listened to yet another verbiose statement from Christine. After some reflecting I now am of the opinion that we have not seen the last duel yet of Christine.

In fact I think she will win the next one.

I feel that the longer she stays on RI the easier it is for her to acclimate and gather strength to play the challenges. She has a sweater now (thanks to Semhar) plus emotionally she is no longer shell shocked by a vote off like any other will be when they come to duel.

Christine is tough as nails. She is focused and the focus she has is based on a deep seated need to get back in and wreak vengeance on Coach Wade. She is very vindictive towards Coach mainly and somewhat towards whomever voted her out as well. But I do feel the main focus is Coach wade.

Coach Wade is unabashed leader. She never found an in with him (thanks to her calling him out as a temporary player and mocking him) let's face it she holds him at the top of the vendetta list as she blames Coach for her being there.

So now you have Stacey also vindictive; heading to the island to duel.

Stacey is going to show up with this boulder on her shoulder and that venom will only feed Christine's vindictiveness and make CHRISTINE stronger. In the end Christine will win her next duel and as long as she can feed off her need to get vindication and wreak vengeance on Coach Wade..and as long as she stays acclimated..I can see Christine being there a while unless she hits some serious competitor..and even then I think she would give them a run for their money!

What is that phrase: hell hath no fury like a woman scorned?

Christine is a bitter, scorned woman.

Odds n Ends Dawn is amazing Brandon/Jim sets records

Wow! What an immunity/reward challenge!

In the end Dawn stood strong carrying 140 pounds of sacks on her tiny frame against Stacey who I also give kudos to as well. There is no way I could hoist that amount of weight myself so I applaud them both!

Dawn in winning that is just amazing!!!

As is Brandon and Jim who beat previous records set by Rupert/JT etc and again another amazing feat of strength! Kudos to both men! I had to chuckle at Jim's quip of when they added the first 20 lbs he said "and to think I have took 20 pounds off already on the island" or something to that effect. All I know was the crack was hilarious!

Kudos to all and to Savii on winning!

a matter of trust

Now to the dynamics of Upolu whose main alliance there is 5 plus 1 plus 1 maybe.

The main focus of Coach Wade's game from the onset of Tocantins has been building trust in people. A trust that appears unchallenged except for possibly Brandon who seems to question each part of the alliance.

From sharing with Edna his feeling she is not really in; building her to have a seeds of distrust to some small part. To Brandon's belief thanks to Stacey's seeds of doubt planted so that he would erupt and take the heat off of her; that Mikayla, Sophie and Albert were a pact.

The main poison that seems to float around camp does seem to start and end with Brandon's ability to trust or mistrust. Sophie remarked that they may need to reshuffle things if their basic foundation of trust is not fully sound and being questioned by one of their own.

Trust seems to be a continual process there but mainly due to Brandon's actions. For the most part I feel that Sophie, Albert and even Edna do not question Coach Wade. I think Brandon even trusts Coach in a mentor sort of way. I think even Mikayla trusts Coach. But when the other dynamics are tested that's when the levels of trust start to shake a bit and the main person testing those foundations is Brandon.

For trust to be solid and to work..it has to be solid for each member or at the least know that the people you are playing with..have your back. When it comes to majority alliances though that can get pretty tricky. Especially with extra sub alliances and appendages as you are always gonna have that one who is gonna be paranoid at some point. In Upolu's case it is Brandon. His paranoia is also affecting other's as well now which is not a good thing. Hopefully Upolu 's main core can stay strong and resolve it so that at merge they will be 5 strong and a bond. But soon they may have to eat one of their own though. As the alliance now pretty much covers the entire camp including subs.

The most moving moment in Tribal Council:
Tribal Council was a lesson in humanity from a young man baring his soul to an attempt to show respect to a woman in her exit who left with ruffled feathers.
